A Few Observations Over the Weekend
No problem, Karen. I found Fuzzy Memories almost a year ago. Great site for the best of Chicago television. Growing up as a kid, I knew there was something special in our TV stations. WFLD-32 was my personal favorite and WGBO-66 was a close second.— November 9, 2009 10:48 a.m.
A Few Observations Over the Weekend
This was the best thing about baseball in Chicago in the 80's: http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/screen.php?c=546&m=wh… sox&p=6 I'd be surprised if the Madres even came close to doing this song with the flair old Harry had.— November 9, 2009 12:06 a.m.
What'll You Think Of Next?
Oh. And also some green beans with almonds and ham bits with a nice pre-packaged salad with Italian dressing and Baco-bits. 'Twas some good eats. I'm trying to stay away from fast food. I'm starting to see what that Spurlock guy was getting at in Supersize Me.— November 8, 2009 11:22 p.m.
What'll You Think Of Next?
First off, and not that has the slightest thing to do with the price of tea in China, I'm watching an awesome biography about Caligula right now as I type this on the History channel. But I digress. Secondly, I've seen those same salad spinners and wouldn't pay $10 for one of them. Call me a cheap bastard but $65 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much for an overrated piece of Tupperware. As for vegetarian anything, thanks but, no thanks. I'm a meat eater. Not that I poo-poo fruits and veggies, I had a couple of short ribs tonight that I would've Caligula'd a man for. :-D— November 8, 2009 11:19 p.m.
A Few Observations Over the Weekend
I always liked the toppers because sometimes they were so stoned, they'd take off leaving money. Mostly $1 to $2 but sometimes up to $7 or $8. I had one regular who was so wasted, he came in and prepaid $25 on a pump. I watched him make a phone call for about 15 minutes, get in his car and drive off. Lucky for him, I'm a nice guy and he was a regular. As soon as he drove off, I refunded his money and put it to the side knowing he'd be back. Sure enough, half an hour later he was back explaining the situation. I put it back on his pump. Had he not come back or been a regular, I'd be $25 richer. I was already scammin' the car wash and sellin' cigarettes and beer under the table so it wasn't a greed issue for me. I've found money, weed and wallets while working gas stations. Both times I found wallets while at the Shell here, they were regular customers so I just gave 'em back.— November 8, 2009 11:11 p.m.
Oobie
Very cool story, quillpena. Never knew what Oobi was till I checked out AG's link but glad I did. I too thought the same thing refried.— November 8, 2009 11:02 p.m.
A Few Observations Over the Weekend
Really? I first started seeing them about 5 years ago when I moved here. I had never seen a sign spinner per se as a human but I had seen a few signs that spun in the wind as a way to get your attention in some of the bigger cities in Wisconsin and Illinois. I wrecked my first car because of a Marlboro sign next to an Amoco station I had worked at a couple of years earlier.— November 8, 2009 10:49 p.m.
A Few Observations Over the Weekend
I hate sign spinners. That is a totally California thing and it looks so hokey. Pregnant women are sexy because you know they put out. I too hated people who didn't know their pump numbers when I worked at Shell. Lucky for the retards around here, I'm smarter than the average bear and learned to memorize the pumps. All they had to do was say the car and with one look out the window, I knew. The New York Football Giants harken back to an era when football was REAL. Not the fake game it's become. I still refer to Lambeau Field as The Frozen Tundra even though it's lost ALOT of it's mystique. I'm not a baseball fan but it reminds me of this: http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/screen.php?c=2241&m=w… sox&p=1— November 8, 2009 10:34 p.m.
Shield for All
Here ya go SD... http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.39…: Better grab your No-Doze! :-D— November 7, 2009 10:57 p.m.
Shield for All
The H.o.R. passed a health care bill 30 minutes ago. The final numbers were 225-220. Only 218 votes were needed. 1 lone Republican from Louisiana voted for the bill with 39 Democrats voting against it. I'll happily be voting Republican in 2010. It's time I sent a message to Nancy Pelosi and her loser friends.— November 7, 2009 9:10 p.m.
