SD's Drinking Water 9th Worst of Major Cities
Not just the pizza in New York, but the bagels as well. Our water is horrible. Get a Brita.— January 9, 2010 4:44 p.m.
Mexico: How Safe is it?
Hi, SD - nice to see you back!! We go to Tecate all the time. Sit by the square and have lunch and a couple of cold ones in those mugs you can freeze. No lines, no parking issues, no fear. It's a great drive and a fun way to spend the day.— January 9, 2010 9:16 a.m.

I adore the litte ratscals. I am off to bring two of the little dears to a senior living facility, where they will tell their stories.....— December 27, 2009 1:55 p.m.

That was really cool, AG!! I am saving that. I actually got a little choked up. (Don't say it, Pete. I know what you're thinking...)— December 27, 2009 1:49 p.m.

But I can't remember a phone number or someone's name to save my life. I guess all that control at work makes me somewhat of a slacker in most other areas. For some reason or another, I keep singing The Age of Aquarius....— December 26, 2009 10:15 a.m.

Waaait a minute...Nan, are you a rat fan? I take rats out on my Humane Society visits. As a matter of fact, Sunday I am taking Theodore and Alvin out. I am usually the person on our visits that handles the rats. For some reason or another, they can tell the people that like them and tend to cling to that person. Everyone in the program loves the rats, but for some of us, we just like them more. Maybe it's because we sense their need for approval that the dogs and rabbits automatically receive. It's interesting. The rats are a hard sell. Most ladies scream when I bring them over to them, or they shake their heads. Then, when they see them peeking out of my smock looking ridiculously cute, they get curious. After I explain that they are domesticated rats, just like a cat or dog, and the rat cuddles up to them and falls asleep, they are hooked. Many a convert looks forward to the rat's visits now.— December 25, 2009 4:44 p.m.

Regarding the left and right hemispheres of the brain and the fact that Kim Peek's brain was missing the tissue that joins them, maybe that tissue is what separates them. You hear of left and right thinking people. MAYBE the absence of this tissue allowed both halves of his brain to work together, like a computer. Nature may have placed this tissue there to prevent us from utilizing our entire brain capacity. Could you imagine all of us with those capabilities? Nothing would get done. "This seemed to aggravate people. Can't imagine why. :" An insanely intelligent GIRL, that does not need to study?!??! Oh, I bet you bug the s*** out of people, smartypants. I know all about this. I don't make mistakes at work. I work in a business with huge potential for error and no margin for it. I have pissed off many a co-worker, and boss for that matter, because I don't need intervention. Ever. I can open a file and from that point on I remember EVERY detail associated with it. Co-workers work on my files and offer friendly suggestions about how to make it easier for them to work on but would create a tremendous amount of unnecessary work for me. I just tell them I can pull any file and know the entire history of it without having to create or utilize multiple resources designed to help jog memory. Just ask me.— December 25, 2009 3:34 p.m.

Amazing. I often think that these two and those like them have access to the unlimited ability of our brains that is closed off the the rest of us. Infinite, like the universe. It's almost scary but really fascinating. The timing of my comment was a strange coincidence to the sad passing of Kim.— December 25, 2009 9:16 a.m.
A sad day in America...
"yanked out of the one little financial bright spot -- their tax refund -- that most people see all year" And what of people who have to pay taxes at the end of the year? Does it become a tax lien on them if they don't pay it? Tax liens can do serious damage to one's credit. But it's not a "tax", right. The timing of this with regard to the new "guidelines" for women's health care is impeccable. And I use that word with tongue held firmly in cheek. Merry Christmas, ladies. I'm off to the movies to see "Up In The Air". George always puts a smile on my face.— December 25, 2009 8:17 a.m.

I hope you know I meant no disrespect when I referred to rainman in my comments. I worked tirelessly for a year for Cure Autism Now. I've always felt that autism was a euphanism for genius. I don't mean me. I can count in my head, but Kim Peek was what I was referring to.— December 24, 2009 4:04 p.m.
