Why, I do believe Pete is sweet on you, SD!! Check out the print version of the Reader this week - you two are featured prominently.— February 4, 2010 6:57 p.m.

SD, I appreciate a well-turned-out appearance as well, but those bags scream Olsen twin. I have a large bag - orange corduroy with matching floppy hat. Elicits screams of ecstasy from the fashion-conscious. Gift from mom. Twenty bucks from a San Fran farmer's market. I now use it only for the OB farmer's, because carrying a bag like that for daily life seems rather vagabond. Regarding fashion as high art, only if you design it yourself.— February 4, 2010 5:53 p.m.

High-end fashion is stupid, and is designed for the gullible and those that can least afford it. Anyone that spends thousands on a ugly handbag every year should be shot on sight.— February 3, 2010 3:30 p.m.
CCDC and other disappointments
No, Auntie, I was not referring to the homeless, which this blog had nothing to do with. Living in the OB area, I have encountered severe homeless situations and realize what a terrible problem it is. This is to what I was referring: "I received the Agenda for the next CCDC meeting. Included is an item for the El Dorado Bar located at Broadway & 11th. CCDC staff is recommending approval for live entertainment 7 nights/week. That is bad enough but, the attachments include: "the proposed use is appropriate at the proposed location" and then: "The establishment is located in a mixed use area that includes compatible commercial uses such as restaurants, bars and live entertainment venues. Although residential uses exist in the area where El Dorado is located (this is the good part) the Downtown Community Plan seeks to encourage a high density, mixed use, 24 hour community and live entertainment venues contribute to this goal." Wow, I cannot believe that residents really want a high density community with live entertainment SEVEN nights a week. I would encourage all who live in the area to either attend the CCDC meeting on January 20 or send e-mails to: Lorena Cordova; [email protected]." You were presuming that all downtown residents think as you do regarding these plans, which is not well, and the point was that many move downtown precisely for the excitement and nightlife. Other than that, again, no beef.— February 3, 2010 1:12 p.m.

Fine. We will eschew the itinerary programmed in the little death traps and instead go on a pub crawl in them. Yeehaa!— February 2, 2010 6:56 p.m.

A knee-jerk reaction, at best. I see things quietly returning to the debaucherous norm soon.— February 2, 2010 6:50 p.m.
