SDPD chief Lansdowne retires
Dr. Peterson it depends. He will have an option to blend his pension from San Diego with the one from Richmond via CALPERS. Or, if it makes more financial sense, keep it separate. If he blends, then he'll have two. If not, three; with pension payments from his time in San Jose, Richmond and San Diego. Either way he will be well off for the rest of his days.— February 26, 2014 10:31 a.m.

True...during a Presidential election. We'll see how it plays out tomorrow without one.— February 10, 2014 3:08 p.m.

FYI...The City Attorney has scheduled a news conference for later today to discuss the settlement of the harrassment litigation. My guess is the plaintiff will be heading to the bank with $250K of taxpayer dollars.— February 10, 2014 3:03 p.m.

The Registar of Voters is saying they are anticipating 50% of the vote to be from mail in ballots. If that statement holds true it will be the deciding factor. These single issue polls typically have very poor actual voter turnout. I'd be surprised if more than 30% of the electorate even bothers to cast a ballot.— February 10, 2014 12:23 p.m.

You may have something there on the motivation for the drawing. In my opinion the drawing "quality" is not up to Breen's standard. Almost, if you like, looks like it was "forced". His cartoons are usually crisp while this one looks something done by a middle schooler. While my opinion is subjective at best, a comparison between this and past work is obvious.— February 10, 2014 10:52 a.m.

"Filner is the most unpopular politician in San Diego these days; he resigned as mayor because of "alleged sexual harassment"". Alleged? Don are you really going with "alleged"? Guess Filner's convictions for false imprisonment and battery didn't "really" count at all. Maybe he should get a do over as Mayor? As for the sophomoric editorial cartoon ... What else should we expect from our local publisher. He's not a journalist and his paper(s) are are no longer fit to line the bottom of cages. While the paper claims the race is neck n' neck tomorrow night will tell the tale of the city's future.— February 10, 2014 9:48 a.m.
City sued by bicyclist who spent ten days in hospital
Thanks for being responsible! It's nice to know people DO care about keeping our personal private information off the Internet.— January 30, 2014 10:15 p.m.
City sued by bicyclist who spent ten days in hospital
Dorian...Granted it's a public document. But it's one thing to be on the court's website where few people go and quite another to be on the Reader's website where hundreds, if not thousands could see it. All I'm suggesting is a little pro-active redacting ...hasn't this guy suffered enough at the acts or omission of others? And, come to think of it... In these days of widespread identity theft as demonstrated in the news, is there a story about why the Courts are posting such information? Why would anyone not associated with the case need to know / see all those pieces of personal information?— January 30, 2014 12:57 p.m.

Before this poor guy becomes a victim of identity theft too...maybe the READER will redact some of his personal info from the PDF you included in this story.— January 30, 2014 12:07 p.m.
Blackout looming for Chargers' NFL playoff game?
Just like New York .... A divided city... a tale of two cities...according to deBlasio the haves and the have nots.— January 2, 2014 9:13 p.m.
