Appellate Court Says DROP Not Vested Benefit
I am not going to gloat. Hi JW~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!! -------------------------------------------- Johnny, Gloat away, it's earned for now. Two points; you already know if you actually read the decision. The scope of the issue ruled upon is so narrow, it would be difficult to fit the 30 pieces of paper necessary to explain themselves under the door to their office. And "b" you and I both know that this court IS overturned so often by the full panel or a higher court its busier than an olympic gymnist trying to hit all four corners of the exercise mat. Guess we'll have to wait until the ultimate authority weighs in on this one..... but for now, enjoy this minor victory.— June 10, 2009 6:55 p.m.

Johnny, I'll reveal my secret identity in a private meeting with anytime. IF Don makes it back to SD I take you both to dinner, Don's choice. I've enjoyed our dialog. We may not always agree but it's the exercise that makes it worthwhile. Whether or not I am JW will be yours to ponder.— June 10, 2009 8:37 a.m.

Unions, truculent or not, advocate for their member's rights, working conditions, and compensation. Every American worker has benefited in one way or another from acts practiced, and agreements reached by represented workers. Have some gone beyond what is reasonable or moral? Some believe the pendulum HAS swung out wide. Will it swing back over time? Probably, IF our current Federal Government doesn't knock it off it's normal course. BTW "Johnny" for the record what I said was... "Don, I'm wondering if you, as the Blog moderator, should remove inaccuracies? When contributors make statements of facts in error, then others refute them with appropriate documentation, do you think you have an obligation to remove the incorrect information? As we all know, Mr. Bauder has corrected your comments on an occasion or two, but left your misstatements of fact for others to read. Later, within the same thread, a comment regarding certain posts was made by Mr. Bauder. He said, "An Internet troll is one who posts inflammatory or inaccurate information just go get others excited. Johnny, defend yourself. Best, Don Bauder" Don's last sentence, "Johnny, defend yourself." obviously means your post(s) fall into ones made by an Internet Troll.— May 29, 2009 7:41 a.m.

No I "absorbed" his message and wrung out the portions that contain the truth, while the rest goes down the drain with all the other waste and nonsense he posts. Don while you obviously agree with his position, you've voluntarily corrected many of his statements over the last few years to maintain the integrity of the conversation and the record.— May 27, 2009 9:15 a.m.

LOL.....your silly lives would not be worth living without me to counter your specious pension/pay/benefit claims :) -------------------------------------------------------------- Funny....I was thinking exactly this about you and could not say it any better. ;-)... will have to have a drink someday about it...so we can better appreciate each others position.— May 26, 2009 5:21 p.m.

A big slash will accomplish very little in a city like San Diego other than drive experience employees to other employers who will reap the benefits of not having to pay for their training and gain years of knowledge and experience. What you'll be left with will be the what Jerry said. Enthusiasm, with no experience, at a wage well below the standard. In San Diego where the cost of living is substantially higher than other parts of the country. So what you'll ultimately accomplish is turn San Diego and into a training complex for the rest of the state with the local taxpayer on the hook for training costs. The other issue Johnny doesn't understand is highest one year. It doesn't matter when that year happens and it's any 12 month period. So even if you do slash salaries now, the previous 12 months will set the pension rate for existing employees. New employees had this benefit changed too. It's their highest 3 year composite.— May 26, 2009 6:52 a.m.
