Serial Office-Holder
Hey Christine, How about giving others a chance to serve...you know our founding fathers never intended political office holders to have a life-long bite at the apple.... it time to find real work if you can.— August 25, 2009 2:35 p.m.
Union-Tribune Axe Falls Again. Kittle Reportedly Out
While I don't consider myself "old" being in my fifties, I found I was unwilling to read the SDUT regularly but still want to hold and read a newspaper daily. As you and others outlined, editorial comment and opinion deeply penetrated into its "news" reporting by the SDUT crew. My questions is why and how does it get fixed?— August 13, 2009 9:51 a.m.

SDCERS Will Look into Looser Accounting
Above, Paul quotes Albert Einstein, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” Atypical is the current state of economics in the world today. Why? Twenty or more years of consumption beyond everyone’s means. With that said, DO NOT equate what's going on with the economy and the goals of Jerry Sanders. He’s a politician now, that means he's a cheat and a liar. No matter what positions Sanders has held in the past, people change, power corrupts. Sanders is no different. His desire for power is manifested by the strong arm domination over the city and its employees. When was the last time a manager or director felt free to speak their minds about things going on at the city? In December 2012, sooner if the right offer comes along, Sanders walks away, not accountable for anything he's done. He'll be laughing all the way to the bank collecting his pension and FULL MEDICAL BENEFITS. The same medical benefits promised for years but employees will not receive as of July 1, 2009. If exam Sanders' history with the City we find a pattern of contemptuous behavior and control over his peers. One might describe it as arrogance others may link it to behavior practiced by sociopaths. Whether it was suing for promotions or letting the bloodbath at the McDonalds in 1984 continue because he was not at the scene this man could cares less about his fellow human beings, then he does for himself. No, it all about Gerald Sanders. Another example, last year when it suited his needs to support his daughter and same sex marriage, politician Sanders changed his political position, and then shed a tear for the cameras and media. He should have been nominated for an Academy Award. Never mind about the years of jokes about gays and their lifestyle while he was a police officer, supervisor and manager. They meant nothing. But I digress. Aberrant means straying from the right or normal way. In the context of this rant I could be talking about a lot of things but aberrant in this case is about the investment earning of SDCERS. If we examine SDCERS' Actuary, Cheiron, their presentation to the Board shows there have been times of aberrant investment returns before, and there will probably be times like these in the future. But in each case investments have recovered and flourished. In fact there have been periods where SDCERS and other public pensions have been flush with cash and swelling with substantial returns. But then the politician got their dirty hands into them and damaged them (Cheats and Liars) for special projects designed to enhance THEIR standing and not the public good. We got MP1 then MP2 and now Sanders is trying to get MP3 by stacking the Board with NEW members and removing the ones with institutional memory. Today, we are living during aberrant economic times, but no overreaction is necessary. Don’t let Sanders scare tactics alter the 30-40 year long term goals of SDCERS.— July 19, 2009 11:55 a.m.

SDCERS Will Look into Looser Accounting
Don all of San Diego's citizens are assets in one way or another. Some have more value, others not... I'll let you judge.— July 18, 2009 5:42 p.m.
SDCERS Will Look into Looser Accounting
I think we should start listing San Diego's assets since Johnny saying bankruptcy is in the wings... Let's see... there's Balboa Park, Torry Pines Golf Courses, South and North, Qualcomm Stadium property 166 acres in prime Mission Valley, but the structure on the property needs some work... There's also the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club... just to name a few assets owned by the City of San Diego.... who else can think of assets belonging to the city?— July 18, 2009 12:04 p.m.

Union-Tribune May Lay Off Another 192...But There is Confusion
An interesting idea was posted yesterday, if the SDUT goes the way of the dinosaurs, the building has potential as the NEW central library for city. The cost is dramatically lower, is close to freeway access and the trolley is walking distance.— July 9, 2009 8:42 a.m.
Union-Tribune May Lay Off Another 192...But There is Confusion
I think most of us agree the printed version of SDUT is circling the drain.— July 9, 2009 8:39 a.m.
