Milwaukee Mayor in a Fight, Cops and Shoplifters in Flight
Pete, the problem with your logic is this. If you are justifying crime, by a business "overcharging" for their product, where would that logic end? Should we shoplift from a jewelry store, because debeers makes us pay 3 times what a diamond is worth? A large Carl's Jr. soda probably costs them a dime, and they sell it for $1.80 or whatever. So what. As a costumer, you can decide NOT to buy it, and instead go buy 2-liters of soda at Vons, which would be less than $1.80. I'm sure it's also cheaper to cook a hamburger at home. You can go to the store and buy the ingredients. Maybe the mark-up they are charging, goes to paying to rent the building, the air conditioning you get to enjoy while you sit there and eat, the employees (and their minimum wage). It doesn't justify stealing.— August 20, 2009 11:01 a.m.

Now, if we can just get to the bottom of how Hostess named their Suzy Q's.— August 20, 2009 10:56 a.m.
Have you ever pawned anything?
I figure...if you're going into a pawn shop with a gun, why not just rob the place? (Pete?)— August 20, 2009 12:13 a.m.

Pete, I can't believe they say chivalry is dead. I have to admit, I got confused at first, when you said "green is an ugly color" as you're a Green Bay fan.— August 19, 2009 4:18 p.m.

That...is a very interesting point. I have friends that hate the fact that cops don't give other cops tickets. I've never had a problem with that. But yeah, a cop wouldn't show up to court and say "I shouldn't have to pay this. You see, I'm an officer of the law." A judge would laugh him out of court. But, get this. I have a friend that told me about a cop they know. Just became an officer, and he's been pulled over twice. Once, the cop was issuing a ticket and saw he was a cop. He was asked why he didn't inform the cop he was also an officer, and he said "Because I was speeding, and I deserve the ticket." He didn't get the ticket. But, another time it happened, and the cop never knew this was a fellow officer. And he got a $300 speeding ticket. Bizarre.— August 19, 2009 4:14 p.m.
Pile-Drivin' Tacos
In my best Homer Simpson voice...Mmmmmm, roast! I'm sorry I missed that. Veronica puts on a great party (and it's nice to see you coming to the website, too). When the first person wrote "F*** You, John, you ancient bastard." It immediately made me think of Will Ferrell and the cameo he had in that show East Bound and Down, where he hired the ex-baseball player to sign autographs at a car dealership, only paying him $200. The guy leaves in anger, with Ferrell saying "See you later, Kenny Powers." After a few seconds of silence, with the player continuing to walk away, Will screams "F*** You, Kenny Powers." It was classic. The Lucha Libra place is great, too. We just ate there the other night, before the Revenge Club/Muffs show at the Casbah, and saw that owner again, and also a guy from a previous party. A barber shop that opened up in La Mesa called Dapper Dan's.— August 19, 2009 3:44 p.m.

Yeah, I agree, Comedian. I just don't think firing is the answer. You suspend them for a few weeks, and have some meetings, STRESSING why you don't go after shoplifters. Good point, verlica. I'm sure the tax payers won't mind footing the bill for a mayor that took a few shots to the head with a pipe. I read a Richard Nixon book years ago, and he talked about having the two or three Secret Service agents, that ex-presidents get for the rest of their lives, dismissed. He didn't want to waste taxpayer money, which was really cool of him. Especially when you have people like this Charles Manson gal (can't remember her name), that recently got out of prison. She tried to shoot President Ford, and got 30 years.— August 19, 2009 12:20 p.m.
Summer Storm
Sorry to hear about all the flooding Karen. I hope it all worked out okay. Just ignore Pistol. He comes into threads, shoots his mouth off, to try to get reactions. As my mom would say "just ignore him." Sometimes he's funny, though. So I give the dude a pass.— August 19, 2009 10:36 a.m.

I agree, storyteller. Vick is doing the right thing by apologizing and all those other things, but really, so what. He has no choice at this point, and knows he has to do all that. He "changed" because he got caught, not because he had this epiphany that killing dogs was wrong. Pete, you know I was just yankin' your chain. But hey...if you get any takers from that, cool. I once did a story about a bouncer at Winston's, who found a baby in the trunk. The woman was in the club partying it up. The next time I saw him, he said he got a woman because she saw that article and was talking to him at the club. It always baffles me what things work with women.— August 19, 2009 10:32 a.m.
Our Idiotic Country -- Criminals Getting Paid
Yeah, it was loaded. What bothered him is...he had a good job, and no record. And, when he bought the gun and got it registered, he was surprised nobody gave him a run down of what the laws were. He thought that the gun was registered, so he had the right to carry it.— August 19, 2009 10:28 a.m.
