Prison Inmates (Dedicated to Dominick Dunne)
I met someone in prison that saw Jesus. He was on a piece of burned toast they had for breakfast. No story...the prisoners DO NOT go to the top of the list. The story I read, said that the list also doesn't let celebrities leap to the top of it, despite what everyone thinks (especially after Mickey Mantle and David Crosby, people thought they "bought their way" or their fame, got them to the top of the list). They go by WHO needs it the most. There might be some guy that dies in a week if he doesn't get an organ. So, he/she is on the list ahead of the guy that can go another 6 months. Although, I still think if that guy has a week to go...if HE, HIMSELF damaged the organ by doing drugs, he shouldn't even be on the list. He blew it. Why should someone that got some disease without doing the harm to themselves get denied? ESPECIALLY WHEN...David Crosby then continued to do drugs afterwards (or, at least, he got busted for having drugs in his hotel). Pete, no problem taking these threads in any direction you want, even if that's political (although...I see you still didn't learn anything from the "retarded" conversation...you bastard).— August 28, 2009 1:16 a.m.
Dangerous Bird
Yeah, I always wonder about stuff like that. A buddy I see a lot of movies with, would make fun of me for eating Raisinettes. I told him I eat those, because they're "good for me." He claims they aren't. And my take is...raisins are good for you. And sure, the chocolate might not be (except a little bit for your heart or whatever they're saying now)...but that hardly takes away from all the good qualities the raisins have. He disagrees. We need a doctor to chime in on this.— August 28, 2009 1:09 a.m.
Party Time?
Well SD, that sort of makes sense about Spliff. You saying that you wouldn't know where to start. Yet, I don't know how you make the leap to PP being some pyscho and Spliff being a "gentle character". Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Pete's an Einstein (sorry Pete, I call 'em like I see 'em)...but his banter on this site seems playful enough. Spliff seemed like angry dude, wanting to always think the world was a conspiracy to get him. Pete doesn't go down those paths. He might attack someone here one minute, and then be funny and playful the next. I don't go to a lot of websites, but it seems many people do this type of thing. I'm not trying to show Pete "support" as you say. But when a thread has a debate, I'll state who I side with. A few minutes ago, it was with you (I believe it was a debate against Pete on censorship).— August 27, 2009 3:59 p.m.
El Cajon no-smoking law flouted
The bee analogy is a perfect one. What if the person does their best to stay away from bees, and a neighbor buys a bunch of flowers and hedges that have flowers in them, and now bees are all over the place. The person might get mad, but what can ya do? You don't start passing a bunch of laws. I also like the attitude of the other non-smoker, realizing how insane it is for smokers to not have ANYWHERE to go. I have this theory. People are such jerks and selfish, that it amazes me. They think THEIR things are important, but not other peoples. Or that THEY are right, but if the roles were reversed, they wouldn't. I go to a park where me and other dog owners let our dogs off the leash. But legally, we aren't supposed to. So, when kids ride by on skateboards and my dog runs after them (even though he's tiny), he goes back on his leash and I hold him. Other dog owners don't do this, and they start complaing about the kids. Yes, they actually have the nerve to do that, saying 'Where are their parents?" I always say "Uh...you know that we are wrong, by having our dogs off the leash, not the kids for playing and skating around in a park." These same people would complain if the kids were skating around their house and NOT at the park. My friend just sat next to someone on an airplane that was so fat, he took up two seats. He had to be uncomfortable sitting next to this guy....yet, this guy probably complains about smokers "bother him." It's amazing that people can't see this.— August 27, 2009 3:52 p.m.
Letters
Now, back to the retarded debate (that could have two meanings right about now). A woman that worked for some mentally handicapped oganization in L.A., sent a letter to the LA Times, when the movie TROPIC THUNDER came out. Her beef was with the scene that had Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller talking about why he wasn't nominated for an Oscar playing a retarded person. Downey tells him "The problem is, you went full retard. You never go full retard. Look at Sean Penn. He was slow, but not full retard. Rainman...he could play Blackjack and had a great memory." (he listed a few more from previous movies, before finishing with)..."You never go full retard!!!" I told the woman that I agree with her about the word in casual conversation. But in a movie, the whole point of that scene (which was very funny in the film) was that these were idiotic actors that didn't have a clue about anything. And they were only concerned with who liked their films and how they could win awards. Her and I had an email volley back-and-forth for two weeks, with her stating her case. And she made good points, about people that did understand they were being made fun of, etc etc. I said that a movie can't be PC to protect those handful of people. Otherwise, no comedy/satire would be able to poke fun at midgets, jews, blacks, latinos, or anyone else. And yes, there are people that would prefer that movies/comedy didn't ever do this. But that's highly unrealistic. I was once shopping in a store, and told someone on the cell phone that my friend was being a "complete retard." The man in front of me turned around, and wanted to kill me. A few minutes later, his wife came in with two teenage boys. Both of them were mentally handicapped. And I haven't said the word since (well...that and my girlfriend was getting mad at the few times I had said it as well). It's not hard to learn that things can be offensive, and to be respectful of other peoples feelings.— August 27, 2009 3:45 p.m.

I agree with SDaniels on this one, Pete. And believe me, you have no clue how much that pains me. I worked at a hard rock radio station when they decided they'd put stickers on CDs that had "bad words". All the musicians complained. All the DJs at our station complained. And I said "Really, what's the problem here? Now, a parent can see what it is their 15-year-old might be buying." Sure...you can make the argument that they could just listen to it, or research it, whatever. But, everyone cried big, bad censorship...when nothing was being censored. Just simple "warning" stickers. Now, I hate the fact that they can't make a movie, without it being rated X...it gets NC17, and then some theatres won't carry it because people will protest. It seems that is a form of censorship that isn't fair. But not this. I've had friends that have used the "n word" while telling a joke, and I go off on them. And they're so surprised by this. The word is really disgusting. And, that argument about it just being a bunch of letters and yadda yadda yadda. Okay, then walk into your bosses office and call her the "c word". And then try to tell her she shouldn't get mad, it's just a bunch of letters. In fact, in London, it's not even much of a curse word. They call each other that the way we use the word "a-hole".— August 27, 2009 3:45 p.m.
Prison Inmates (Dedicated to Dominick Dunne)
Good point, story. I always love the guys that find Jesus while in jail. It's like...couldn't you have found him before you killed five people? And...it's not Jesus Christ they found. It's Jesus Hernandez, their cellmate! But pete...everyone in prison has better health care than one segment of society. ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO HEALTH CARE!!!! Not to mention, I read a story in the paper 10 years ago, about a prisoner (I think he was sentenced to some long stretch, like 25 years). He was getting a kidney transplant. And, a lot of folks were upset, because the list is super long (and the list usually consists of 99% that ARE NOT in prison). But it was ruled that you can't deny him a kidney because he committed a crime. It was so insane. That meant, that some regular person who hasn't committed a crime, will not receive that same kidney, so this guy could. I say that if you pulled a David Crosby/Mickey Mantle...and were the one that damanged your organs from drink/drunks, you shouldn't be on ANY list. Instead, class acts like Walter Payton end up dying, because he couldn't get an organ in time. And he did everything right in life. I have to think that if a prisoner complains about anything medically, they get taken care of immediately. Again, how many people in the regular population can say that.— August 27, 2009 3:32 p.m.
John Moores sinks Padres pay to number 29 of 30 teams
I'll be the first to knock the Padres and Chargers for being cheap. But with Kevin Brown, it was one time I totally understood them not wanting to give him $100 mil. And it turned out to be the right decision, as we saw what he did for the Dodgers in his injury plagued season there. And, if Phillip Rivers and the Chargers are happy with him making LESS than Eli Manning, who isn't half the quarterback Rivers is, okay. That's fine. But they (and their fans), can't get mad when the Chargers draft a player like Eli in the first round, and they don't want to sign for crap money.— August 27, 2009 11:07 a.m.
Party Time?
SDaniels, here's a question for ya. In a thread recently, you said you agreed with Pete (I believe it was about the smoking in public laws). I know I've agreed with Pete on some things. I know other times, I've thought that he was insane and rambles on and on. But you know what? That makes him a thousand times more interesting (and funny) than SpliffAdamz ever was. Yet you never once called Spliff out on any of his idiotic rants. Why is that? Is it...because...you are "racist"? Heck, I even recall you saying I could "learn something" from Spliff. I think you can learn something from PistolPete. That maybe you shouldn't take life so seriously. Maybe you should laugh once in a while and enjoy things, instead of getting so stressed out by everything and everyone.— August 27, 2009 11:04 a.m.
Ninth annual Cajon Classic Cruise – who are these people?
One more thing...I've been to at least three lowrider shows (and at least three lowrider parties). Never saw a single problem, fight, or argument occur. But there's a big difference between a lowrider show, and a bunch of cars that just show up, or have people "hanging out" at a parking lot.— August 27, 2009 10:59 a.m.
