Baby Einsteins, Dumb Pilots
Am I the only one that hated Mr. Rogers when Iwas a kid? I swear, the way he talked, bugged the heck out of me. I know, I know. It's supposed to be soothing to children, but come on. Give me the cool Electric Company songs, and muppets on Sesame Street telling me that the days show was brought to us by the letter "C". That's what I wanted to "see". psycho...I agree with a lot of what you say. And I think the stats show what they show, for those reasons. There are adopted kids that come from women that were on drugs or on the streets, or didn't have money. Those are often people that aren't the smartest, wouldn't you agree? Karen...wish I could say I did more with my Alpha Bits then comlain to my mom, "They taste gross when they get soggy. Do I have to put milk in them?!!!" When I was 9 months old, I was having surgery. I pointed at the exit sign and said "exit." That amazed my mom, but I don't think anything else I did as a child ever impressed her. Until I started beating her and her friends at Scrabble when I was 12.— October 27, 2009 10:56 a.m.
Craigslist Craziness -- The Costume Edition
Yeah, I guess name calling is childish. But when someone is accusing me of "stealing" from another source on this website, well...thems fightin' words. Besides, off the top of my head, I can tell you in previous blogs, I've mentioned things like "I read this in Dear Abby" or "In the Union-Tribune this morning," and, I've mentioned seeing stories in the LA Times, the New Yorker, a Dave Barry book, a list of top songs in Rolling Stone, or worst villians in a movie mag, something I heard on KGB, or Jim Rome...an item I read in City Beat, or saw on Saturday Night Live; and on our own website, I've mentioned blogs that would've been more appropriate in News of the Weird, Jay Allen Sanfords blog, or even Matthew Alice. So why in the world would I "steal" an idea about a story on Craigslist, and NOT mention "I got the idea from a guys blog on this site." I simply wouldn't do that, because it's easy enough to mention that.— October 27, 2009 2:10 a.m.
Baby Einsteins, Dumb Pilots
Well, what would make me think that IQ is the main reason is...in studies, they were baffled as to WHY adopted children weren't doing as well in schools. This was in middle to upper class neighborhoods (as poor people weren't adopting many kids). And, what they found was interesting. They found that adopted kids were actually exposed to a lot more (I'm going from one magazine I article I read on the subject, and one book). The adopted kids often had been given lessons on how to play an instrument. A lot more books to read. And a lot more interaction/educational things with the adopted parents. The conclusion these people come up with is...you can study and do well in school. But if you're not a smart person, all the things in the world that your adopted parents expose you to, don't do a whole lot. And that if you get the looks from your parents (heck...even the voice; I just saw Paul Simons kid on Letterman. Sounds and looks just like him, but with more hair and a few more inches in height). It's probably the same with the IQ.— October 27, 2009 2:04 a.m.

Hey Tam, what comment did you think got deleted? As PP says above, when a comment is deleted, the number still appears. And it says something like "comment removed by administrator." There's never an explanation. But for people that have read the thread, they usually know why it's been deleted. If you post a comment, you have to make sure that you press, not only PREVIEW COMMENT, but then POST COMMENT.— October 27, 2009 1:59 a.m.
Drunks in Duluth (or The Cops Was After My Hot Rod La-Z-Boy)
You probably are. At least on these blogs. Ya know what? I thought the song was a cover, but then when I thought about it for a second, I knew Commander Cody also covered "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke (that cigarette)," and I figured that was the cover I was thinking of. Although, now that I think about it, they also covered another song that slips me. That's strange when a bands biggest hits are cover tunes.— October 26, 2009 3:29 p.m.

Sounds good, Boomer. Thanks for throwing such a great bash.— October 26, 2009 3:27 p.m.

Bugliosi always writes interesting books, but he does them way too late. He wrote one on JFK and how it was a lone gunman. The only problem was, that subject was covered nicely in the book CASE CLOSED, by Gerald Posner. What's with Vince???— October 26, 2009 3:26 p.m.
Black Barbie (and hats off to Stew)
UPDATE: Go see the Chris Rock documentary "Good Hair". It was wonderfully well made and entertaining. And I feel a little different about the black barbie now, and what her hair should look like.— October 26, 2009 10:34 a.m.
Drunks in Duluth (or The Cops Was After My Hot Rod La-Z-Boy)
You know, that makes me wonder...when these drunk guys are driving these various items, the problem seems to always be the DUI aspect of it. But, just like balloon boy and the FAA in regards to objects you might try to fly...I'm guessing there are some kinds of regulations regarding things you can drive.— October 26, 2009 10:03 a.m.
No Pictures, Dude
For some reason, checks are cashed and they still get out there. Joe DiMaggio once went off on a bank, because they "stole" a check he made out to Marilyn Monroe, after she cashed it. Someone wanted an item signed by both of them, and then sold it. He got it back quick enough. I've seen pieces of homework signed by James Dean. Other pieces by Buddy Holly. It's funny to look at their signature, as a 6th grader. Your "hero" sure doesn't know how to pick running mates!— October 26, 2009 12:50 a.m.
