Tipsy and Talkative
Ratings prove ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They proved middle-America liked jokes being told, where Leno EXPLAINS things to them. I rememberh him once saying something like, "So...there was a hunting accident with Dick Cheney..he's the vice president..." It took all the momentum out of the joke, to have to explain who the VP was! But you know what? Those same people that make Leno win in the ratings, are the ones that make the movies number one, that no critic recommends.— November 17, 2009 7:41 p.m.

Yeah Robert, I wonder why that is, that Manilow hasn't cursed us with a daughter...heheheheehehe. Man, you got some big b***s. Admitting to being a Manilow fan, and that soap opera. Yikes! I only like one or two Manilow songs, but Lionel has some great stuff. I have the Commodores box set (those guys them their afros), and there are so many great songs. One of my all-time favorite ballads is his "Oh No". Lyrics: I want you/I need you/I'm going crazy knowing he will be the one you love.... chorus: Oh no/I'm goin' crazy in love, over you.— November 17, 2009 4:37 p.m.

I'm only going to comment on one thing. Arin mentioned me going to see Jesse Jackson speak. I would not do that. He's not only racist, but he stole $20 million going to under privileged inner city children, to keep for himself and a mistress. And, the man I voted for President (Obama), he said on a live news feed that he'd like to "cut off his b***!" Not sure why Jesse is bothered about, regarding Obama. But, it shows you something about ol' Jesses true colors. He didn't want a black man to be president. How bizarre is that?— November 17, 2009 3:49 p.m.

Wait, now I'm confused. Is Robert Scorpio a character name I'm not familiar with? To me, the way I base my view on people is how they interact with me. Everyone has a clean slate. If my family was all murdered by a Vietnamese man tomorrow, that means absolutely nothing to how I would feel towards the next Vietnamese person I met. Because a crazy person committed the crime, it's hardly indicitive of that race. Now, Robert Scorpio...I have to think Barry himself, would be a fan of a man named Robert Scorpio as well!— November 17, 2009 3:16 p.m.

Arin...here's my point. That old black guy probably has seen some horrible stuff. Heck, he might even remember a time he couldn't use the drinking fountains. But, the second I explained WHY the media made a bigger deal over McGuire than Sosa, he should've had the intelligence to say "Oh yeah, I hadn't thought about that. Sosa really never broke ANY record." And he didn't. Just as you should realize...had Bill Bellichik been Dennis Green (a coach I absolutely loved), or Art Shell (one of the few Raiders I could tolerate, also black)...you know what you would have said? You would've asked "Why are you giving Dennis Green a hard time for going for it on 4th and 2? Because he's black?" Yet, here I am, in a blog, giving Bill Bellichick a hard time for a bad decision. And he's white! So, that's my point in all this. You're cherry-picking my blogs to when I mention a black celebrity doing something idiotic. And when I point out the white people I've blogged about, those are glossed over. No Asians or Latinos have done anything annoying enough for me to blog about, I s'ppose. Although, boxer Julio Cesar Chavez came close! (he beat his wife, allegedly) Now, this is going to be perhaps, the worst point I've ever tried to make. But...I actually think Halle Berry's hit-and-run was WORSE than when Broderick killed someone on the road. Sure, the end result wasn't as bad. But Berry FLED THE SCENE, and had no intention of turning herself in. The woman broke her arm. And had a damaged car (luckily for cell phone cameras, Halle was caught). Broderick was NOT drunk. And he did not flee the scene. He got in an accident, that was an "accident". To me, the intent of the person, is what makes it worse what Halle Berry did.— November 17, 2009 11:24 a.m.

Two other things, arin. First, I was just looking at my old blogs. Just the titles. And I see the Sammy Sosa (which you mentioned as me picking on someone of that race), is in the title, along with AMY WINEHOUSE!!! Last I checked, she was a white, Jewish woman. Second, on the subject of Sammy Sosa...I once went into a cigar shop in Mission Valley, and was wearing a Satchel Paige shirt (black pitcher from the Negro Leagues, who played for Cleveland very briefly, when he was super old). I just love that dudes story. So, an old African-American in the shop, wanted to talk baseball with me. I had to admit, I'm actually not a big fan of the sport (sorry redsoxfan). And, Sosa and McGuire had just broken the home run records, so...if ever there was a time to talk baseball, it was then. He started talking about that record (and nobody had suspected steroids at that point), and he said "I think it's kind of racist, that the media made so much more of a big deal out of McGuire breaking the home run record, than they did for Sosa." I was stunned he said this. And my immediate reply was, "Well...Mark McGuire is actually the one that broke the 61 home runs by Roger Maris. He broke it first. When he broke the record, technically, it's no longer a record. So...when a few weeks later, Sosa breaks that old record of 61, well...that's definitely an accomplishment. But he's not breaking a record, because he is still behind McGuire." And this guy didn't see it that way. He just saw it as the media having some racist bias towards LIKING McGuire and not liking Sosa. Now, it's those same media members that aren't voting for McGuire to be into the Hall of Fame. It's stories like this, that make me wonder why the race card is always played. I don't doubt racism exists, in small segments of society. I told you in a previous post, I agree, that in many ways, blacks have it tougher in society. But in many of the topics I bring up, you want to inject racism into it...and it's just not there. You really need to get some hobbies, if sitting around harboring this grudge towards white people is all you have in life.— November 17, 2009 10:27 a.m.

I agree with redsox. You guys should all ignore him/her. I'll sometimes address his points, if I feel he makes a half-way decent point. But you guys should just continue to ignore him. My girlfriend said it best. She logged on a few days ago and asked why I even bother with him. She said "Even Pete is smarter than you, and hasn't been baited by his stupid comments." Believe me, that hurt! (no offense, of course, Pete ;-)— November 17, 2009 10:20 a.m.

One more quick thing arin...I said from day one, I didn't think Mike Tyson raped that woman From what I heard about the case, it just sounded bogus. But, the reason I don't have a problem with him doing jail time and boxing again (the way I did with Vick), is because boxing you do alone. It's not a team sport. So any baggage he brings to the ring, only distracts himself. With Vick, you are opening a media circus, and to me, it's crazy to think a team would want to deal with that. I think people respect and love Tony Dungy so much, and since he was behind helping Vick out, it got it done. Now, back to Redsox, since he seems to have a brain (no offense arin, but you're really showing yourself to be a dope with these posts): There's a lot about the Vick case that made me happy. The fact that he ACTUALLY DID JAIL TIME for one! I mean, there's an NBA player (I forget his name, maybe Jayson Williams), who shot and killed his limo driver, while people were in his house. It was an accident, but he covered up the scene to make it look like a suicide. And that was years and years ago, and he still isn't in prison. So yes, Vick served his time, and should be allowed to get on with his life. I agree. JUST NOT IN THE NFL! This is a league, that recently fined Chad OchoCinco (the dope formerly known as Chad Johnson), because he was wearing the wrong colored headband. They've fined people for wearing socks that weren't the proper issue. If they are going to be that strict, how about you give him a 3 year ban, instead of the year he spent in prison? And, do I think he's sorry? He is absolutely, without a doubt, NOT sorry he did this. He's merely sorry he got caught. Proof of this is....let's say he got a dog fighting ring, trained dogs, all that. Well, a person that is truly sorry, would've watched ONE DOG FIGHT, and said "That is the most disgusting, horrible thing ever. I don't want to ever watch that, or participate in that, again." But he didn't. He watched dogs tear each other up, and decided that's something he wanted to continue doing. And that doesn't even get into the killing of dogs that he apparently did when they were injured or didn't fight well. A person like that doesn't just BECOME SORRY for those actions. A normal person would realize that's a sick thing to do, probably before ever doing it!— November 17, 2009 10:18 a.m.

Robert...first, you are wrong about one thing. Had Bellichik NOT gone for it on 4th and 2, and the Colts came down and scored...NOBODY would say that was a bad call. Absolutely no one. Ya know why? This simple reason. THEY WERE ON THEIR OWN 28!!! Anyone that understands football, realizes this is not ideal field position to be in on 4th down. And, we aren't talking about 4th and inches. Heck, we aren't even talking about 4th and 1. It's 4th and 2. Two yards isn't just simple. How many times has a team been on the one or two yard line, and haven't been able to punch it into the end zone? Often. Us fantasy football owners can tell you that. Redsox, just ignore arin. Don't let him ruin the blog for you. But, I'll answer his question, just because I want to. Arin: you bring up a few good points. Since I feel they're okay points, I'll address them (they almost aren't good points). First, I have talked about Matthew Broderick in a blog. It was when Halle Berry was involved in a hit and run. I wrote that it's odd some stars, like Ferris Beuller, seemed to get a free pass when he killed someone in Ireland or something. As for Roman Polanski, I did a blog on him and how he should spend the rest of his life in jail. NOT JUST for the original crime he committed. BUT ALSO, for fleeing the country. That should create some added on time (and I don't care what the victim says now, as a 40 year old; she was 13 at the time). And, since you mention me not blogging about white people that committ crimes, I also did an entire blog about that Rancho Bernardo housewife, who fled a heroin charge in Michigan and took a different name. Everyone seemed to think that, because she "changed" her life around, she shouldn't have to go back to prison. I said she not only SHOULD go back to prison, BUT...she should have another few years tacked on. You don't pat her on the back for getting her life together.— November 17, 2009 10:11 a.m.

arin, I can explain WHY you hear about more white people molesting children, or more white men that are serial killers. It's simple. The numbers. I believe the black population makes up 11% of the U.S. population (I'm guessing, but it's around that). So, if that's the case, let's say that 1% of ALL adult males molest children (not sure it's that high, but let's go with 1% for this scenario). Well, 1% of the 11% population of blacks, is going to be a lot less, than 1% of all the Caucasian population of the United States, no? And the same would go for seriel killers. Now, I'd love to see you explain why the percentage of blacks in prison is near 50%, when they make up such a small % of the general population. But before you answer, don't go to your standard of "because the corrupt police and legal system is racist." That logic won't fly. We live in a day and age where, even if there was a racist cop or two, they'd have a hard time justifying an arrest of all African-Americans. In fact, the LA Times did a story about 6 months ago. And they checked officers statistics, and found that they pull over more Caucasians than any other race, and there were no signs of racial profiling.— November 16, 2009 11:30 p.m.
