Shark Sandwich
More on the shark: the family did a paddle-out the other day. 100 relatives, triathletes, and surfers paddled out off Fletcher Cove (Solana Beach). Now, is it just me, or does this seem a bit odd? Usually, I get very emotional at the paddle-outs I've seen. But, just thinking that they are in the same location a great white shark killed the guy. How weird would it have been if another attack occured? I understand the odds are high. It would also seem to me, to be a bit unsettling to be on your board out there during that, too. I'm also wondering, if that huge great white that's over the bar at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, is going to stay in place.— May 1, 2008 1:48 a.m.
'Canes Breeds Fun
I don't know why, but I've never been much into the Pixies or Frank Black. Great songwriter, but...the songs just don't grab me the way they should.— May 1, 2008 1:44 a.m.
Shark Sandwich
Another update: Richard Dreyfuss is selling a Carlsbad home he owns. He still has one in Cardiff. And, he's been spotted around town, at various restaurants. So....Dreyfuss, the guy in Jaws that came to town, looking for the great white, now is in our area. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....— April 30, 2008 12:48 p.m.
Shark Sandwich
Well, it's a good point. You really don't know the sharks motives. Maybe the guy had cut him off in traffic earlier, in his boat. Maybe the shark was angry at the work all the sea creatures are put thru at Sea World (after all, a dolphin just died there). Maybe the shark was hungry, and didn't mistake the guy for a seal. He just wanted a change of pace, and was tired of the same ol' meal each day. We really, do not know the motives of this massive beast. Shark updates: teeth fragments in the guy confirmed it was a Great White, 16 feet long. Also, an American just died from a shark attack in Acapulco. It bit him in the thigh.— April 30, 2008 1:21 a.m.
Fight Club
I saw Karate Kid when I was fairly young. I think it came out when I was around 15. So...I just don't remember it enough. I'm not even sure if they were talking about that final scene, in which he does that goofy kick that Arnold from Happy Days, taught him. Maybe it was a good fight scene, I dunno.— April 30, 2008 1:19 a.m.
Cat Scratch Fever
Donald Trump drives with a creature on his head.— April 30, 2008 1:18 a.m.
Sweet Dreams
Well, I love music. It's one of the reasons I get frustrated that the music editor here often refuses my music/blurt related stories. It's my favorite topic to write about. I wonder what percentage of cancers, end up getting cancer.— April 29, 2008 1:24 a.m.
Fight Club
I think I remember that scene. Not as funny as the scene where the entire family starts barfing, in some weird contest they had to see who eats the last piece of pie.— April 29, 2008 1:21 a.m.
Below the Fold
Okay, so...you didn't like the Donny line. But, how about every other line Goodman utters? About his religion, and all that? It's great comedic stuff. I agree about a movie being better than 85% out there, doesn't say much. But, Lebowski is a great film. It's actually better than the much more heralded No Country For Old Men.— April 28, 2008 11:39 a.m.
Bond. James Bond.
Update #3: There was now another car crash in this Bond film. A stuntman was hurt. Man, these chase scenes better rival Bullit and French Connection!— April 27, 2008 11:44 p.m.
