Our Idiotic Legal System (the anti-Fred and Rickey Says blog)
I mean, that if someone is fleeing the police, THEY might be planning to do that. You never know. Therefore, the cops should do ANYTHING to stop them. If that means shooting, sending a German Shephard, or running them down, I'm all for it.— June 20, 2008 1:32 a.m.

Our Idiotic Legal System (the anti-Fred and Rickey Says blog)
I think Just Wondering nailed it. Although, I don't like knocking the cops education. Sure, a lot of officers aren't college educated. But that doesn't bother me. I agree with everything else in that post. What a lot of people don't realize, is what "excessive force" means, when used by an officer. For example, there was an officer about a year ago. He was trying to handcuff a 16-year-old African-American girl, who was big for her age. She was out past curfew, and I think she had been drinking. Not positive, though. He kept asking her (nicely, too), to put her hands behind her back. She wouldn't do it. He asked repeatedly. Finally, he gets forceful. When that starts to happen, she starts to get mad, and she gets forceful. He then punches her, and then maces her. Now, you watch the video, and 90% of the population jumps to two conclusions: cop using excessive force on a young woman. And/or: white cop/black suspect. Neither of these, are relevant. The ONE RELEVANT thing is, suspect not following cops orders. Now, one guy about 10 years ago, was pulled over by the cops. He was on the Chargers. He was on Friars Road, had to lay down on the ground, and was cuffed. He was then let go, because he did nothing wrong. Cops say he fit the description. The Charger player said he thinks he was profiled, and merely pulled over because of the color of his skin. Well, guess what? The Charger (surprisingly) played it right. He did as the officer said. He didn't mouth off. And later, he filed a complaint. And you know what? If the officer was correct, that he fit a description, they should be able to provide proof of a call they got, or something else.— June 19, 2008 10:08 a.m.

Yes!!!! Rickey Says agrees with me. I'm marking this day on my calendar. I think if you flee from the police, they should be able to shoot you. Or run you down. After all...what happens if you get away? You might beat the tar out of a baby, like that crazy person did the other day. Or, you take a hostage. If you are fleeing, you're up to know good.— June 19, 2008 1:55 a.m.

Service at Restaurants
My girlfriend just gave me crap because I left a relatively small tip at Outback Steakhouse the other day. We were with the folks for father's day. Bill was over $100. First, we sat down...and a good 15 minutes until we saw anyone. And, we were thirsty. We then saw a waitress, who asked if we wanted drinks, then immediately said "Oh wait...I'll be back." She ran to another table for something. She came back five minutes later, and explained something about forgetting to bring them keylime pie or something. Which is fine, I don't care about what she forgot to bring them. And, again, I'm not going to yell at her. Or even be mean to her about it. It'll just be reflected on her tip. Granted, it was busy as heck. Every table was full. But, she brought a the wrong soda once. Didn't bring another soda to someone else at our table. I asked for ketchup, and got such a small amount with my blooming onion (i'm addicted to those things), that I had to ask for another one. Which, isn't that big a deal, but maybe bring more ketchup to begin with. It took a long time for her to pick up the check (and we wanted to take off and head to the beach). So....I left a smaller tip. My girlfriend was mad about that.— June 16, 2008 11:34 a.m.

Nice blog. I used to write reviews on bars and nightclubs for the Reader, and that was when I was in my late 20s/early 30s. Often times, I'd be the oldest dude in the place. And, I'd feel awkward. Often times now, in my late 30s...I go to the Casbah because they have some great alternative band I want to see, like the Ting Tings, or Von Bondies. And again, I'm the oldest person there. I'm not there to drink, or pick up chicks, but I know the young hipster chicks that think they're all that, are looking at me, with attitude. So, you bring up some good points.— June 14, 2008 4:24 p.m.
The Jury System
I agree, that in O'side, they should release the details. But, then again, let THEM do the investigation. Why is everyone always in such a rush for this info? Secondly, they are charging the woman, as they should (details have already been said, no need for me to type them). And, I disagree. I don't want 10 guilty people going free, for one innocent person wrongly convicted. You know why, Fred? Because, people always make that seem like that ONE INNOCENT person is going to be you, Fred, or me. No. It's going to be some loser that has a criminal history already, that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not that that means they deserve prison. But, it's not like the cops go knock down the door of some man that works 9 to 5, is with his wife and kids, and just take him in, like some scene from Brazil, and then he has to prove he didn't do it. So, if one "innocent" criminal, didn't actually do that specific crime, oh well. Maybe they shouldn't have done that whole host of other crimes, that led authorities to suspect him/her of that one. R. Kelly is now the latest getting away with a crime. Gotta love our system, huh????— June 14, 2008 3:51 p.m.

That's funny, because I saw this documentary in Greenwich Village called Operation Filmmaker, and this kid goes to Prague. And it looked so beautiful. Often times, when you see a place that looks nice in film, you think about going there. I don't get into traveling much, though. And, that's all well and good if service is WORSE somewhere else, but I certainly won't leave a tip when 5 things were wrong with my meal. If it's a few things, and the server is nice, they still get tipped. Valet parking is still the weirdest for me, though. If they are charging me $7 or $5, or whatever it is...I'm already paying for that service. But, I'll watch. And, if they're retrieving my car from a very far distance, and they're running for it, I'll have a couple singles to give them. If my car is five feet away, sorry charlie.— June 12, 2008 9:09 a.m.
