Palin the Pain
Nugent used to make a lot more good points years ago. Now, he just sounds like Rush Limbaugh on steroids/speed. Did you hear him on Glenn Beck? It's hard for me to even listen to Beck, he's such an idiot. But, Nugent goes on and on about how much he corrects people in society, and how that drives his wife nuts. Now, believe me, I love venting about idiots in society and how they should do things different. But, he says he tells people to stand up straight. That's just insane.— September 8, 2008 9:52 a.m.
Don't Try Suicide (You're Just Gonna Hate it)
Yeah, that's a good point. I just know that when I was a teenager, with a '65 Mustang, I never got a speeding ticket. Never did anything stupid on the road. Part of it was not wanting to pay a ticket. Another part, was not wanting my parents telling me I would lose my driving privileges. So, when young people drag race, or do stupid things, it's hard to have sympathy when they die on the roads.— September 8, 2008 9:49 a.m.
Don't Try Suicide (You're Just Gonna Hate it)
Yeah, I know. I totally expected that. I think in a blog awhile back that happened. Somebody related to the person I made fun of, posted and gave me crap. It's just always been a pet peeve of mine, when someone committs a crime, like Scott Peterson and his wife and unborn baby, that his parents stick by him. And, have the nerve to get mad at the dead womans parents. Instead of them looking at the facts, and saying "Wow, we never would've thought our little Scotty would've murdered, but all the evidence points towards him." And, in this case...I would have all the sympathy in the world for the parents. They would probably love nothing more than to have their son alive. And to tell him he'll meet another woman. And to get him help if that's what he needed. But, since they don't have that, I guess their plan is to blame the cops. And possibly set up a lawsuit. Blaming everyone but themselves. It's disgusting. Although, my friends all think it's disgusting of me when someone dies on a motorcycle, that was going 85 miles per hour on Mercy Road, in a 45 mile zone, and I say "Well, that's one less loser on the planet."— September 6, 2008 12:13 p.m.

well, good point johnrubio. i guess my point is, why is it more bizarre for john to figure out why people would flock to a film or whatever his point was, because of a death? to me, it's just as weird a thing, that eddie murphy can continue to make "comedies" and people go see them. sure, his last one (Meet Dave, I believe it was) nobody apparently went to see. but really...people have track records of making bad film after bad film, and they break box office records (ie Adam Sandler). I believe Dylan is playing concerts on the green thing, and also one of the local casinos as well. But, i believe tickets start at something really expensive, so be prepared. (on a side note: is there a better album than Blood on the Tracks, that thing is amazing)— September 5, 2008 9:47 a.m.
Marriage and a Band
If you couldn't get enough of Revenge Club in the above write up...a few of the things that we had to cut out of the story, I included here: Maggie: Only the tradition of being too cool to dance. Of course there was the time in Vegas when everyone thought it was a good idea to rock out on stage with us and touch our instruments while we were playing. That posed a bit of a challenge. One girl hugged me in the middle of a song. WEIRDEST OUTFIT WORN ON STAGE. Sean: The Chewbacca mask, which he had trouble breathing in, too. Maggie: Well, many people think wearing dresses and skirts while playing drums is weird, but I don’t! FAMILY MEMBER EVER SUGGEST A CERTAIN SONG BE COVERED? Amy: My parents thought it would be a great idea for us to cover ‘Rock the Casbah’ at the Casbah. We didn’t. Sean: They’ve never been that supportive of my music endeavors, so it’s never come up. Maggie: My sister often pulls for Tom Jones covers, which I am not necessarily opposed to. BEST STORY GETTING “REVENGE” ON SOMEONE. Amy: Also, my friend Thomas and I were hanging out in front of McDonalds, and he was being completely annoying. I said, “You wanna see a trick?” I requested two quarters and his shoes, which he gave to me. I ran over to a newspaper stand, used the quarters to open it, threw his shoes inside, and slammed it shut. He didn’t have anymore quarters, so it was really funny watching him try to pan-handle McDonalds patrons in order to retrieve his shoes. Maggie: I've never gotten a good act of revenge on anyone, but my ex-boyfriend got revenge on me by leading me to believe that I had AIDS for a few minutes— September 5, 2008 1:37 a.m.

I think I got his point. But my point was, who cares about that point? Death does that. I heard a radio station talking about some website that voted on the Top 20 musicians you would want to see, if you could bring them back to life. I immediately thought who could top this list...maybe Elvis, or Hendrix. I went with Lennon, because you could get a Beatles reunion out of it. Well, the people voted for John Bonham, the Zeppelin drummer. Which just shows, that a lot of Zep fans filled the ballot box. But...people on the list like Frank Zappa, well...when he was alive, he couldn't even sell out big venues. Yes, he's innovative, some say a musical genius. He was certainly a great spokesman for music. But, look at Dylan. He's playing one of the casinos in town. I saw him a few years ago, at the SDSU open air theatre. Yet, if he had died in 1975, he would be on the top of that list. People would wish he was alive, and he'd be able to sell out Madison Square Garden, if back for one last performance. Yet, here is this legendary songwriter, alive and well...and he can't play the biggest venues in town. So, I just don't see the point in talking about how Batman is so huge because of Ledger's death. It's a pointless thing to bring up. And, it's an obvious point he made.— September 5, 2008 1:23 a.m.

You are both right and wrong in the write-up on Dark Knight. Obviously, his death created a lot more buzz. Would Hancock have been bigger had Will Smith took a dirt nap? No. Maybe a little, obviously. But not much. Batman had the buzz. His death heightened that, surely. It also helps him with the Oscar buzz (you mention James Dean...I believe the same thing happened with him and Oscar buzz, too; and, because he died young, nobody got to see how overrated an actor he really was. He couldn't hold a candle to Brando, but then, who could?) But to make it appear as though his death is what drove this movie into box office records, just isn't the case. I can give you an example. My friend hates the fact that I loved Nirvana. He would say "They're only as big as they are, because Kurt Cobain killed himself. He died, just like Morrison and Elvis, and that makes rock stars become bigger." The only problem to this logic is this: the Blind Melon singer, Shanon Hoon, died over a drug overdose. I still only hear the radio stations playing their one hit. Nobody goes on about Hoon being a genius. The singer of AC/DC died. They got a replacement singer and put out Back in Black in 1980, and it was their biggest record ever. So, if Ledger portraying the Joker wasn't a good performance (it was overrated, I'll give you that)...or the movie wasn't very good, it would've broken a weekend box office record (like all super hero movies seem to do, see Iron Man for that). And, we wouldn't be talking about it today.— September 4, 2008 11:35 a.m.
Beer Goggles, Mr. Yellow, Pea Jacket

Top 10 Overrated Movies
I blame Tarantino for anything he has his hands in. I mean...he was paid $250,000 to write a few scenes for Crimson Tide, which Denzel and Gene Hackman were great in. He added two scenes. Both of them horrible. One had two sailors fighting over which was a better 60s comic, Silver Surfer or...well, can't remember the other. It was so ridiculous. If you were in the military, and ran across another guy that collected comic books, you'd probably have this big bond with them. Not want to start a fight while in line for grub. He also had his name on Hostil, which was one of the worst horror movies I've ever seen. Also, regarding overrated movies...I don't want to just stick to Tarantino. For as great as Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction are, I don't mind him getting the attention he deserves. I'd rather attack people like Roman Polanski, who has been overrated since 1975. Or, Jim Jarmusch, who gets critically praised, but his films are usually very boring. Lost in Translation, by the way, I liked. But, didn't love. And it was very highly overrated.— September 4, 2008 11:21 a.m.
Top 10 Overrated Movies
Funny post. But, Goodfellas is actually an amazing film. Violent, yes. But great. You haven't seen a Tarantino film you didn't like? Uh...there's some vampire/biker gang movie. Cheech Marin has the only funny scene in it. I like Clooney is in it. I saw the second Kill Bill, didn't care for that. Grindhouse/Death Proof was average, at best. Certainly not worthy of the 3 hours plus we had to sit thru it.— September 3, 2008 11:16 p.m.
