I am guessing Pistol stabbed a few people when he was in the joint. They're always doing that, making weapons out of toothbrushes and whatnot.— November 24, 2009 7:57 p.m.

Fred, when you went into that other language, I thought you guys were speaking in tongues. I covered my eyes, and made my fingers crosses and held them up against the computer monitor, hoping the evil would go away. I finally just scrolled down and it did. Also, I had a delicious spaghetti lunch today. And ya know what I did? Well, I don't normal say grace before a meal. But I did today...and I thanked that big spaghetti monster in the sky. So, thanks for allerting me to his presence (I say "his" because I don't think the spaghetti monster in the sky is a woman; she'd be saying "did those extra meatballs make my butt look fat in these clouds?")— November 24, 2009 7:53 p.m.
Bonus Blog: Adam Lambert on the AMAs
I think the network should've talked to Adam before cancelling his performance. They could've expressed their concern. And by then, Adams people would've said "Hey...this isn't the best career move." And, everyone would be tuning in, wanting to see controversy (and probably not getting it). So, it was lame for them to cancel his appearance. But, Adam is kind of sticking his foot in his mouth, when he keeps saying "There's a double standard." and he goes on and on about women doing these kisses. Well, two problems with Mr. Lamberts logic on that one. First, when Madonna kissed Britney, A LOT OF PEOPLE were up in arms over that as well. Adam would have a point if nobody said a word about it, and now they are about him kisssing another man. Second, from what I heard, Adam didn't just kiss a guy. He also simulated oral sex with another. Now, I wouldn't put that by Madonna...but as far as I know, she never did that on live TV (although she did it with an Evian bottle backstage in a documentary I saw once).— November 24, 2009 4:58 p.m.

How did Boy Georges "over the top antics" catch up with him? That dude (who as Steven would say, looks like a lady) had a string of hits, for many many years. Culture Club was hardly a one-hit wonder. Even 80s stars that didn't have some crazy look or stage presence, aren't really having hits today.— November 24, 2009 9:25 a.m.

Yes, the XTC song is great. But hey...they play that McCartney and Lennon song, and even that wonderful Kinks and Greg Lake track, so I ain't complaining about the Christmas tunes (on a side note: have you heard that bizarre Bob Dylan Christmas album? Talk about "sell out"...he's a Jew!) A few things that I'd like to clarify, Fred. First, I do NOT take the opposite position because I love arguing. Contrary to popular belief, arguing annoys me to know end. Ya wanna know why? I've found most people will not admit when they are wrong. Therefore, arguing just becomes frustrating. If you presented facts to people, and they could own up to being wrong, and say "Oh...I hadn't realized that," well, then I'd love arguing. With the Mount Soledad cross, again, it's not my love or arguing. But it's the fact that I find the person stubborn that feels so strongly about THEIR reason for the crosses removal (or staying). It baffles me that they can't see the other side, which is a very valid point. Regarding my skepticism about the environment, I didn't think we ever had a conversation on the matter. But...I believe most of the garbage Al Gore spews out of his mouth on the subject. I've just expressed some dismay in his refusal to debate the issue. He just likes to come in, win awards and make money. It all seems a bit bizarre to me, especially when he takes these small planes to fly to a dinner in Phoenix, and then back to New York, and with his electricity bill that was off the charts. Things that leave a bigger footprint then my neighbor who has two SUVs. It's one of the many reasons I'm a Democrat. I think that party cares more about the environment, and people in general, than Republicans do. But that doesn't mean the politicians that are Democrats aren't just as bad as Republicans, when it comes to bribes and all those other bad things politicians do -- all the while claiming they have our best interest at heart.— November 24, 2009 9:17 a.m.

Hope you get well soon, turkey. I thought the same thing. I was at a mall, asking the Off the Cuff question. These two guys hated the question I had. One of them said, "Ask a cool question, like 'have you ever been stabbed by a pencil.'" I laughed and said "Who has been stabbed by a pencil?" And they both had stories. I figured that was a weird coincidence, but this is still one of those rare questions that the next four people I asked, all had answers! I'm convinced, everyone in the world, at one time or another, have been stabbed by that yellow #2. Maybe when it gets to the point that 1st graders just type everything on computer, and with loss less pencil usage, this won't be the case. Someone told me the other day, they don't even teach kids to write in cursive anymore. Bizarre.— November 24, 2009 9:07 a.m.
The Pyramid Scheme
Leaving Las Vegas was great. Although, I did have a few problems with it. What was with Richard Lewis being the guy Cage wanted to borrow money from? And, I think we'd have a lot more sympathy for the character if...once he "falls" for that woman, he tries to quit drinking. But at that point, he's an alcoholic and it's too late. Just saw a good movie tonight (The Messenger). And before it started, a commercial for a Nic Cage film that looks good. (bad cop, or some generic dopey title like that). He's a good cop, that goes bad when drug addiction enters the picture (why do those commercials, and myself, give away more than is needed to get the point across?)— November 24, 2009 1:42 a.m.
The Slightly Hodge-Podge Composition
Blaine isn't trustworth to some, because...I believe John Hughes once used that as the bad guy. Perhaps a preppy character played by James Spader. And really....you can't trust the things David BLAINE is doing, can ya? Spencer is a name I don't trust. Not sure why. Spencer Tracy is great. And a cop friend of mine had the cutest son he named Spencer. But still....something about it...— November 24, 2009 1:35 a.m.
Mothers
Well, I can relate on both levels. Having a stepdad that worked at the post office as a letter carrier for many years...those guys work hard, and the change of address thing is super complicated sometimes. Just imagine apartments with one roommate moving out, etc. And, I can't talk politics with that same man. We're both Democrats, but he's such a hardcore liberal, that he thinks a woman should be allowed to have 12 kids, and still collect welfare without being told to go on birth control because "It's not the governments job to tell a woman what to do with her body." Oh brother.— November 24, 2009 1:28 a.m.

Fred, let me explain something regarding your assumption that as an agnostic, I'm a "coward" or don't want the religious folk to hate me. First of all, by being an agnostic, just the opposite happens. I get it from both sides. The religious people chalk up my beliefs as atheist. And the atheists, like you, HATE, absolutely hate, the fact that I can't just commit to the idea that there is no God. End of story. The slight bit of me that thinks there might be a God, doesn't necessarily believe it's a dude with a long white beard, that created Adam and Eve. Just as I tell people that believe in UFOs and aliens...that if aliens exist, what makes them think they look like us, but with green skin, bulbous heads and eyes like E.T. The aliens might look like jelly fish. But, they've seen a lot of movies, and probably just go with that look. But back to the cowardice thing. A lot of my beliefs seem to be out there (just ask Geek, who hates most of mine...or who assumes I have no empathy, when in fact, I do; I just don't tolerate criminals, and wish them all to be wiped from the planet; another debate for another time). When people ask me how I feel about the cross on Mount Solidad, ya know what I say, Fred? I say the exact opposite of what the person wants that is talking to me. If it's a religious person, I lay into them. I ask them why in the world other people should be forced to look at a cross, THEIR religious symbol. If it's for soldiers, well...explain that to Muslim, Mormon, atheist, or Jewish soldiers that died for this country. If it's an atheist that is asking me what I think of that cross, I lay into them. Because, I hate their BS argument that the cross is "offensive" to them. It certainly is not "offensive." They just don't like the fact that the religious people are "getting one over on them." Just as those same atheists probably don't mind when stores decorate with Christmas lights and ornaments. I certainly don't mind that. In fact, I enjoy being out at night in December, and seeing houses with Christmas lights. I also enjoying knowing that kids enjoy seeing that stuff, too. And I think it's a shame that hardcore atheists want to destroy that, and boycott stores that have trees, etc. So my answer to the cross on Mount Soledad is this. In the future, no public land should have religious symbols of any kind. But, the ones that are there, I have no problem with them being grandfathered in. And if it offends someone...oh well. They can look away when they drive by it. I hardly find those responses to be that of a "coward".— November 24, 2009 1:21 a.m.
