Dog Eat Dog...Or, Prisoner
Fred, how was it I got "schooled" by her? I said I had never heard of dogs being hurt. It didn't mean I thought they weren't ever hurt or killed doing that. I guess I just don't read many Iditorad stories, that's all.— March 27, 2009 11:50 a.m.
Pull Gun on Cop -- Collect $325,000!
Fred, You get mad when I assume officers are right. Why are you ASSuming the cops lied? Or that they're "covering up"? If the police shot a guy they had no reason to shoot, trust me...the family wouldn't settle for $300,000. They'd take a million, or sue their pants off. And they'd win, as cops are only allowed to shoot when their life is on the line. Think about it, Fred. They are pulling a guy over. And if he mouths off, you think they'll pull out a gun and shoot? Makes no sense...there are video cams, and everything else. Not worth the risk. And, why does he have a fake gun in his car? I don't like this guy even being a part of society, driving a car with a fake gun, that he's probably held out at people that cut him off.— March 27, 2009 11:48 a.m.

Crashing on a Bicycle
Well, the thing that scares me is this. Right now she's making money, from that Radar, that's paying to televise all this. That's fine. Not a great environment for the kids, but it also lets everyone keep on eye on her (like her current shopping sprees). The problem is...once that well dries, what will she do for money? And, at that point, it will be a lot harder to take the kids. If it's going to be done, it needs to be done now, when they are babies.— March 26, 2009 12:48 a.m.
Eddie + Alcohol = Air guitar
Thanks for being a great hostess on your big day. It was great getting to meet you and your family.— March 26, 2009 12:45 a.m.
Half Pennies, Finger Muscles, Foot the Bill
MA says that a half-penny today would be worth about a dime. My older brother was a coin collector, and for those out there that are into what the value would be today (meaning, if you owned the actual coin), there are many half-pennies that are just worth about $50. Ones from the 1700s are worth thousands (some as high as $55,000). Half-pennies from the mid 1880s, are usually worth between $50 to $300, depending on the condition, and how rare they are. I seem to recall reading that the liberty head ones are more common (they have the very bizarre wording of "Two Hundred for a dollar" stamped on them, in case you aren't so great at math).— March 25, 2009 4:16 p.m.
Escorts & Engagements
Well, I asked Sebastian about that. He told me that story about legal issues isn't true. He said "Paul Rothchild (Doors producer), didn't like the idea of a bunch of other musicians coming in and playing on the record. He wanted everyone knowing, this was the 4 Doors, back to basics (I'm guessing this is because of the Soft Parade disaster, and all the horns, strings, etc). So he asked him to not use the name, so fans wouldn't see his name on there and think that he had a big part in the album or antyhing. So, he used his fathers name, if his dad hadn't changed it when he came to this country. So, I asked him to sign it with that name, which seemed to please him. If you're a fan of Morrison Hotel photos, there are two that are better. One is right now, in the Morrison Hotel gallery on Prospect. It's a very weird angle, almost as if Diltz was on the floor looking up at them, and you see a clock on the wall, and sun coming thru the window, and some Christmas decorations. The band looks great in it. Also, a photo from the back cover, but instead of just random people walking by, it's the Doors. Morrison leaning against the wall, Kreiger walking by, Densmore up against a light post...I love that shot.— March 25, 2009 4:03 p.m.
San Diego tribute bands: 40 Ounces to Freedom (Sublime), Dust N’ Bones (Guns N’ Roses), Dazed and Confused (Led Zeppelin)
The problem rap fans have, the ones that actually know the genre, is when they try to say Marky Mark or Vanilla Ice, isn't rap. It is. It may suck, but that doesn't matter. It's just like when a person that loves heavy metal tries to say that the hair bands of the 80s weren't metal. And then they come up with all these sub-categories: speed metal, death metal, blah blah blah. In every genre of music, there are artists that suck and doing that. Even if they have a hit. In country, maybe that's Billy Ray Cyrus and his Achy Breaky Heart. I don't know. But to try to say "He isn't country" or "he wasn't rap," is a lame argument. Or to say that "the Chargers will never win a Super Bowl," when I'm guessing, he's a Raiders fan! All silly statements.— March 25, 2009 9:42 a.m.
Crashing on an Airplane
Well, to play devils advocate, one could argue that if you have three kids, and one being a 1-year-old, maybe you shouldn't be flying on ski trips. I mean, isn't flying painful for a babies ears? It's at least painful for the other passengers that have to hear your kid crying and screaming, with you not being able to do anything because "it's a baby, they cry."— March 25, 2009 9:38 a.m.
Crashing on a Bicycle
Yeah, and it's one of the reasons I hate all this press the Octomom is getting, yet when it's on TV, I end up watching. And it's also why I hate arguing with people like my stepdad about it. I want those children taken away from her. I don't want her getting food stamps or any government assistance, and he goes down this liberal path of.....you don't take children away from the parents unless there's some real, hardcore threat. Whatever.— March 25, 2009 9:35 a.m.
