Bell to Meet with U-T Employees November 18. Meeting Announcement Spurs Rumors of Paper's Sale
I agree about no market for a metro paper. I also agree that financiing would be very hard-in fact close to impossible. BUT, if David Copley were willing to take a stock swap in place of cash that would be doable. A stock swap is the only way I see a sale of the UT. I think anyone who is buying a metro daily in this market is koo-koo. I would just wait for the UT to go BK-then but it out of BK. Last, I had my 9th handle/account banned from posting on the UT webpage today! But I already have a new one lined up. They can knock me down, but I just keep getting back up!— November 10, 2008 9:20 p.m.
While Public Was Fixated on $700 Bailout's Passage, Treasury Quietly Gave Banks $140 Billion Tax Windfall
Since when can Treasury make law??? Last time I checked law making was a job of the legislative branch of government, not the executive branch.— November 10, 2008 4:26 p.m.

Federal Reserve Refuses to Say Who Got $2 Trillion of Emergency Loans, or What Kind of Junk the Institutions Put Up as Collateral
The Fed won't comment on the loans or the lawsuit. Large banks such as Citigroup, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo refused to comment. ============================================= One US Supreme Court Justice said (I forgot which one) that exposing government dealings to "sunshine is the best disinfectant" in the world!— November 10, 2008 11:48 a.m.

a phone conversation between FRED WILLIAMS the humongous and donna frye goes something like this..... FRED:hey donna how about putting a legalizing marijuana and crack cocaine initiative on the docket at the next council meeting? DONNA:fred what a great idea i was thinking of not only making it legal but also it should be taught at our schools how to procure and use it in a holistic and civilized manner! FRED:my thoughts exactly donna i would be willing to go door to door and try and gain public support for this great idea except for one thing... DONNA:whats that fred? FRED:i am a laughingstock in my own community, nobody likes me because i am a hypocrite and my lard shakes are a embarrassment. DONNA:freddie my boy i will always love you...(do not disturb) By fumber 7:44 p.m., Nov 8, 2008 > Report it =================================================== Hey D-bag Fumbler-we got the messege the first 50 times you posted this SAME post.— November 9, 2008 11:49 a.m.
Goldsmith Memo Proves What Many Suspected: He is not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed, and is Tool of the Mayor

Goldsmith Memo Proves What Many Suspected: He is not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed, and is Tool of the Mayor
"The person from whom you are seeking continuing employment is not Jan Goldsmith, but a person serving at the pleasure of the mayor," says another attorney at the office. ============================================= WTF is that supposed to mean?? Goldsmith is the elected CA, he is the one who hires for the CA's office. NOT the Mayor, or anyone else for that matter. Is Goldsmith saying he is going to be a puppet for the Mayor?? Just what is that supposed to mean?? Don, have you spoken or emailed Mike yet?????— November 8, 2008 4:04 p.m.
Goldsmith Memo Proves What Many Suspected: He is not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed, and is Tool of the Mayor
Obviously, anyone working on a case that Goldsmith doesn't like (say, pension or SDG&E initiatives) can say bye-bye. =============================================== Goldsmith has stated on the record that he will seek the advice of the Clowncil on whether or not to continue the pension case. I will keep an open mind with a "wait and see" type of attitude before calling him a puppet. I have said that since the pension lawsuit has already been researched and briefed it would be foolish to not go forward with it at this stage of the game based on a cost/benefit ratio.— November 8, 2008 4:01 p.m.

John Kaheny defends rising pensions in San Diego
When the new Obama administration takes office in January, 2009, I was wondering whether you think they might take criminal/civil actions against San Diego officials responsible for the pension-fund debacle? ================================= Too late. Limitations period has run. BK is the only option left for San Diego. We are "Enron by the Sea", or "Vallejo of the South", either Title fits us perfectly now.— November 5, 2008 3:39 p.m.
