U-T's Combined Paper and Online Edition Lose Market Share in County, According to Report
BTW, Open Memo to Mike Aguirre, San Diego taxpayers do NOT need or want credit card interest rate bonds being floated (without voter approval) for day to day maintenance of this City. What Col. KFC Sanders is doing to taking money that should be used for the daily operating expenses of the City and funneling it into the pension black hole and then asking for "bonds" to run the everyday operating expenses and needs of the City. Why do this?? Because if Col. KFC Sanders uses the General Fund money to pay for the day to day operations and maintenance of the City there would be NO MONEY left for the pension black hole, forcing the Colonel to issue Pension Obligation Bonds-which REQUIRES A VOTE FO THE PEOPLE TO ISSUE. KFC SANDERS IS USING SLIGHT OF HAND TO GET AROUND MAKING THE HARD CHOICES THIS CITY FACES-SHOULD WE, OR MUST WE, FILE BK????? 5 weeks and this promise everything but do nothing clown is gone, and I for one cannot wait.— April 27, 2008 9 a.m.
U-T's Combined Paper and Online Edition Lose Market Share in County, According to Report
The UT losing market share??? Nahhh....why would that be? Oh, here is why, the UT is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the San Diego taxpayers yet again with the bogus bond issue that Sanders tried to pass without voter approval, which carries interest rates of up to 16%! Well, that pretty much explains it in my book; UNION-TRIBUNE EDITORIAL Obstructionist tactics Aguirre tries to derail $103 million in essential projects April 27, 2008 Because of its financial straits, San Diego has long neglected billions of dollars in public repairs, from Egger Highlands to San Pasqual, from San Carlos to Pacific Beach. Mayor Jerry Sanders is now beginning to address these chronic needs with a $103 million bond issue, approved overwhelmingly by the City Council. Why, then, is City Attorney Mike Aguirre vowing to kill this essential initiative? http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080427/…— April 27, 2008 8:51 a.m.
Sanders's Flack Bombarded Friendly Media with Anti-Aguirre Hit Pieces
Bonnie Dumbass is on her way out...... her handling of the Cynthia Sommer's case is disgusting. Although the real person to blame for that disater, IMHO, is the trial judge. Allowing the prejudicial actions of what Cynthia Sommers did AFTER the death of her husband as the "proof" that she was guilty of murder violates the rules of evidence very clearly-that garbage should NEVER have been allowed into evidence. That is the judges fault 100%. But the DA took the Sommers case to trial on little to no evidence. The trial of Chula Vista Councilman Steve Castaneda by Dumass's "Public Intergity" unit was another wipeout that will be the icing on the cake. You do NOT bring s case to trial unless you're GOING TO WIN it. It is that simple. This was CLEARLY a political case, IMHO, brought to help CV Mayor Cox and her County Supervisor husband. This is Dale Akiki, Jim Wade and Stephanie Crowe all over again. Virtually every San Diego DA for the last 20 years (Miller, Pfhingst and now Dumbass) have been removed from office for bringing political cases. That is not a positive sign for our justice system.— April 26, 2008 8:48 p.m.
Sanders's Flack Bombarded Friendly Media with Anti-Aguirre Hit Pieces
Hunter, no matter what you think of him, is no Randall Cunningham. I was pretty shocked at Cunningham's corruption-and I hated the guy. But I did think he was a straight shooter. The day Cunningham announced his was not going to run for re election Marti Emerald and crew drove to Del Mar and were trying to inteview people at the park (all uninformed tourists), where I was walking my dogs. I got interviewed-I told Marti that I did not think Cunningham would intentionally do what he had been accused of, and I then told her that not running for re election was the least of Cunninghams problems, jail time should be at the top of his list. How right I was (on the jail portion).— April 24, 2008 5:42 p.m.
Volaris, Avolar, Alma de México take over flights from TIjuana
Darren, I can tell you the shake downs do happen, and because of it I would warn everyone that they better beware, and ready, of such actions. It is no different from driving a car in Mexico and getting pulled over for no reason (besides the fact you have American plates) and being told you violated some bogus traffic law and it will take a $40 payment, in cash and on the spot, to leave. That happenes to virtually every American who drives in Mexico, why would you think it is any different for air travel? If anything the shake down would be more prevelant at the airport because air travelers would appear to be of more means. Mexico is a highly corrupt country, where 50 families own 90% of the wealth and over half of it's 110 million residents live in poverty- it got that way for a good reason. Shake downs of Americans are a way of life in Mexico.— April 24, 2008 8:29 a.m.
Union-Tribune fights unemployment claims
I guess it pays to be a columnist as opposed to a reporter where we need actual facts. The California EDD, which is the decider of whether a person would get unemployment, approves a great majority of unemployment claims. =========================== I do not know where you get your facts, but UE benefits are contested for the purpose of the employer not getting charged from the fund. "Contested" UE benefits are NOT routinely approved, and I highly doubt a "great majority" of them are approved, with a great majority being 65-70%. In the early 90's I had ***5 contested UE claims**** within a 24 month period. They were ALL reversed from the intitial decision of the State UE Department-either at an administrative hearing or the Superior Court. 4 went my way, one went the employers way. The UE Dept. has a number of unqualified and incompetent employees working there (at least they did when I dealt with them, I doubt it has changed any, if at all), and even some of the administrative judges were not that bright. Bottom line-5 claims-5 bad decisions-5 appeals and 5 reversals. All in a 24 month period. That is pathetic.— April 23, 2008 11:01 p.m.
Volaris, Avolar, Alma de México take over flights from TIjuana
The flights may be cheaper, but when the dirty TJ cops shake you down for all the money you have you will be out many times the money you save on the ticket.— April 23, 2008 7:19 p.m.
Sanders's Flack Bombarded Friendly Media with Anti-Aguirre Hit Pieces
Well, Old Fred Sainz has some egg on his face now....Cat's out of the bag, straight from the horse's mouth (or should I say A**...opps, I mean "rear end"-I never swear!); "Sanders confirmed the exchange in an interview Wednesday after a local blogger wrote that Francis had told him that the mayor had said, "F--- you, Francis." (Sanders corrected the account only to say he used the first name, not the last.)" CLASSIC stuff. http://weblog.signonsandiego.com/news/breaking/20…— April 23, 2008 5:53 p.m.
Volaris, Avolar, Alma de México take over flights from TIjuana
I would NEVER use a Mexican airline flying out of TJ or any other Mexicn location. The Police/Federalies will shake you down at the airport if you even have a scent of cash or money, or you are American. Too much downside for the small savings you can get. NEVER us a Mexican Airline unless it is flying out of the States.— April 23, 2008 4:30 p.m.
Sanders's Flack Bombarded Friendly Media with Anti-Aguirre Hit Pieces
Hey, looks like Sainz's F-Bombs are starting to rub off on his Boss...aka Col. KFC Sanders......; "They finished the debate, Steve stands up, the mayor stands up, other candidates stand up, and the mayor refuses to shake Steve's hand," said Francis campaign manager Charles Gallagher. "Then the mayor makes the f-bomb statement to Steve and walks off the stage. Steve comes off the stage. Steve was pretty surprised. Steve told me. I was pretty surprised." ========================== More; "It is patently false. I was there. It's laughable. It's absolutely laughable," [Fred]Sainz said while actually laughing. "Everyone who's ever met Jerry Sanders knows he's an absolute gentleman." =========================== And we all know Sainz's nickname is the "Pillar of Truth"!!!!!!!!!!!! We all know Sander's and no one in administration (...cough...Fred Sainz..cough....cough...) uses swear words! http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/election/— April 23, 2008 4:26 p.m.
