San Diego City Council accused of over-sized pay raise
Fumbler-you voting for Obama 08??? If you dont you will be voting for a loser buddy! BTW-where you been at?? Were vacationing at Chino or San Quentin the last few months????— May 9, 2008 4:59 p.m.
Excessive Labor Costs Force Vallejo to Vote for Bankruptcy
Try looking at the detailed list of Vallejo's salaries. The one that includes OT pay and one time pesion payouts. It gives a little different picture than the incomplete list JV keepsposting. http://ibvallejo.com/docs/employee_wages... -------------------------------------- The list was interesting, one thing that jumps out from the get go is the BASE PAY for the PD and FD, virtually all of them are making over $100K in base pay. I personally do not think any FF or cop should make over $50K in base pay. JF, regarding tax rates in CA, San Diego is NOT under taxed, and just because it is below some other city tax systems means nothing-IMHO the OTHER cities are OVER taxed. If these PD and FD pensions were eliminated then no city taxpayer would have to pay such high taxes.— May 9, 2008 4:54 p.m.

Voice of San Diego's most prolific anti Aguirre crusader, KATHI WARD, wrote in a letter to the UT today with her normal baloney hit pieces on Mike-this time on the Tom Story case. It is amazing how the same small anti Aguirre minority crowd get so much ink. In a poll the VoSD cited it showed Mike (29 points) had a 2 to 1 margin over Peters (17), Goldsmith (15) and Manch????(15). Amy Lepine did not even make the radar. I cannot wait until Mike blows Peters out in the primary. I will be even more happy when Kathi and her cronies get their pensions cut in half.— May 9, 2008 8:37 a.m.

Well if Wellington did engage in ex parte commmunications he should be removed from the bench. That is as low as it gets. G Dennis Adams, Mike Greer and James Malkus found that lesson out the hard way.— May 8, 2008 7:42 p.m.

What I would like to know is whether there was a meeting before Wellington's perverse decision ================================= It is highly unlikely that Wellington met with anyone without Mike present (ex parte). That would be grounds to remove Wellington from the bench and would be a very serious violation of rules and ethics. (BTW- when judges are removed from the bench they also get their law licenses yanked-no more attorney duties).— May 8, 2008 3:31 p.m.
This Month, Gaylord Called Off One Deal for Lack of Financing, but Still Plans to Go Ahead in Chula Vista

San Diego City Council accused of over-sized pay raise
New employees, the FD and PD, the ones that milk the system the most and bear the most responsibility for the deficit, have not had their pensions changed. They are still on the 3%@50 scam. That is IMHO the biggest reason for the deficit. Also, under a CHP 9 BK, the existing contracts would be wiped out, it would not be an extension of time to repay the same amount. The old contracts would be wiped clean and the City would start from scratch. Simple solution would be to force the entire work force into social security-if it is good eough for the working poor and middle class it is good enough for the City. This retire at age 50 nonsense has to go anyway you slice it.— May 8, 2008 11:25 a.m.

Response to post #4: The only circumstance in which the editorial board would go to the guillotine is if the paper is purchased ======================== Or if the paper goes BK.— May 8, 2008 8:42 a.m.
San Diego City Council accused of over-sized pay raise
Before we pay them more, let's demand more results. This getting a 25% pay raise for business as usual is just plain stupid. =========================== Exactly! . . . BTW, as to Scott Peters, I don't think Peters could litigate a real legal case of substance on his own. He does not have the experience or brain power.— May 7, 2008 8:09 p.m.
