Could not agree more--the less said the better, and the last time I visited the place, the ladies outnumbered the guys. I think there was some kind of naked volleyball tournament planned that day. From what I saw, they are very healthy people. Long live the freedom!

What the Foie?

I've always felt a little "iffy" about this goose liver stuff, but now that I've read Ian Pike's article about eating "balut" on p. 62 of this week's Reader, I think goose liver is extremely humane. If you have not checked it out, tighten your gag reflex and read it. Nothing like eating the unborn. And Barb, I too enjoyed your piece this week. Did not know about the goose-gag reflex thing. Just never know where you are going to learn something new these days. But my, my, what a mixed bag of gaggle in this week's edition--appetizing and nauseating, all in the same issue.

Escondido maintenance man loses home to foreclosure defrauders

These scumbums ought to be strung up by their thumbs and hung out to die. What really burns my hide about this is that they would take advantage of those who were already in trouble financially. And they used the churches! Preying on the weak-minded, targeting their "affinity group." Low lifes like these really should be made to pay back every penny even if it takes the rest of their lives. I think they felt encouraged to do these things by the climate of the times.

Mt. Soledad Cross Case Not Supreme Court's Cross To Bear

Not yet "ripe for review"? This case is so ripe it is really starting to stink. It seems the Supreme Court will not render a decision until they absolutely, positively have to. I don't understand how the case got before the Supremes before a final decision was issued by the Circuit Court in the first place. You mean to tell me you can take a case to the Supreme Court without first exhausting all lower court hearings?

Federal Agent Using Rifle to Take Out Predators in San Dieguito Lagoon

Can't say I ever heard of "Rascal," nor have I ever heard of "roof rats." What the hell are they? And I can't believe they shot a coyote. They should have trapped and relocated it. What I'd like to know is what are these "endangered species" that are being protected? The article didn't say.

UCSD’s graduation daze

Jobs creation could be one way of describing it; but you could also call it "debt creation" too. I just don't understand why the university would go this route when these tasks could be handled by in-house crew. Sometimes I wonder if they don't first look at how much money they have, and then devise plans that exceed that amount so they now have a reason to ask for more....or, to raise the tuition on the students. I think these schools feel they have to constantly be expanding and have ever increasing expenses, or they're not doing something right.
