Stolen iPhone leads to arrest of a man accused of multiple burglaries

Yup. This guy is on his way to becoming a total pro if someone doesn't turn his wagon around. How does he get the sliding doors up to move them in the first place? There has to be a way to prevent it, no?

I've never seen such a bipolar political situation; the State says it's legal; the Fed says it's not; and the mayor says let's all sit down, chill, and pass the pipe. I like this new mayor. I think Obama needs to call off the dogs. He smoked weed back in the day and he's said as much. He should know better and put those resources someplace else where they're needed and might do some good. This is just a stupid waste of time and money.

Arizona sheriff must return Encinitas woman's medical marijuana

The sheriff "has no personal stake..." What kind of legal mumbo-jumbo is that? If Arizona law allows one to possess small amount of weed, and the person has a California card, what more would be needed? And when and why would a sheriff ever have a "personal stake" in a case like this? I'm glad it turned out like it did, but I find the ruling to be as clear as mud.

Trial date set for two Border Patrol agents in California

Disorderly conduct? Lewd acts in public? Battery? Annoy child? (this last one has me stumped). Hey, this is San Diego, Baby. This is nothing for members of uniformed services. I'm surprised one of these two clowns didn't shoot the woman too. No doubt, charges will be brought against the lady who was attacked and the two drunken bozos will walk...maybe even get commendations for going above and beyond.

Excellent travel story. Sounds like you come from a long line of world travelers, Max. Be sure to keep up the family tradition and don't forget to keep a journal. What I like most about your writing is how you describe what the world looks like through a young set of eyes. Marshmallows and centipedes...only an eleven-year old traveler would put those two together in the same story. I look forward to seeing more of your writing.

Seau suffered from disease caused by hits

I hear what you are saying, Don (and others). Football is big, big, BIG in the U.S.. It is hard to believe it would change just because of a few brain-injury related deaths, but as Visduh points out, look at the changes tobacco went through once the connections were indisputable. I think something needs to be done but I'm not optimistic. The first time I saw a mixed martial arts fight on TV I thought sure that would be outlawed and yet, it is now bigger than ever. I guess here in the US, just because something is dangerous, vicious, deadly, and repugnant, doesn't mean it won't get bigger and more succe$$ful. viva Amerika. And don't forget the Gun Show is coming to Del Mar!

Bam! Football takes another hit. The question now is what will come of it? I don't think improved helmet design is going to fix this; and I just don't see the fans showing up to watch a game of "touch." A couple of big lawsuits are going to alter the landscape to the point where even the big money guys are going to see the game is carrying a higher risk. Or, they could go buy an army of doctors to refute the findings. The ball is still in motion but this could be first down.

Felon fails to flee from police in La Mesa

This is kind of funny. Sounds like this bad ass got the old heave-ho, probably by some WWII vet who wasn't too impressed by someone breaking in through his window. I think Nicholas was lucky he didn't meet with the wrong end of a shotgun. The sad part is you can almost read between the lines and see that this 28-year old is going to end up in the joint; get some more tats; learn a few more tricks; and eventually be back on the street to do it all again. We make 'em; we take 'em; but we rarely break 'em.

Caltrans to chip in for Cabrillo Bridge seismic retrofit

So, it looks like Caltrans will retrofit the bridge and then if the City Council prevails on the bypass, they can just tear up Caltrans work. I think that's called the bureaucratic shuffle: one step forward, and two steps back.

Uh,,,isn't there some big plans to construct an off-ramp to a new parking garage? And didn't someone say they were going to do that before the big 2015 Centennial Celebration? And Caltrans is going to be retro-fitting the bridge at the same time? This is going to be interesting.
