Oceanside man admits kidnap

So he held a knife to someone's throat and threatened to cut it if he did not get $1,000 plus a car while he is out on probation from other charges...and is permitted to plea to "simple kidnapping" and not have the charge of extortion added? Did the DA really think there was some doubt about the request for money and a car? Maybe the guy who delivered the money was an unreliable witness? Doubt that this was "for financial gain"? Excuse me?

Cyclist sues City and San Diego Velodrome Association for unsafe conditions at the Balboa Park cycling track

These guys ride their bikes as fast as they can, with no brakes I might add, and then complain when there is an accident? Ha! That's like a cowboy at a rodeo complaining the ground was not even when he got thrown from the bull. Besides, you mean to tell me the Velodrome Association does not have all riders sign waivers?

Any cop will tell you a domestic dispute is the most dangerous situation you can walk into. Emotions are running high and nobody is thinking straight. Intercede if you have to but watch your back when you do.

Bag of meth was hanging over the baby's crib, police say

It is wicked bad stuff. You would think a baby would be enough to get people to clean up their lives, but I guess it wasn't in this case. Maybe being busted will be the wake up call. Hope so for their sake and the sake of their kid. Otherwise it will just be a wake.

More bad news for Fresh & Easy stores

Ralph's has pulled this stunt too. I've caught them several times and even though they always correct it when I point it out, I have to wonder how many people are oblivious to it and just go through and pay up. Was at a new Von's the other day and picked up an item that had a "50% off" sticker on it. When I checked out there was no 50% off, so I called a manager and was told they have to enter a special code to trigger the discount. So, what's that-- a "50% off when you get a manager to enter the code" discount? Please. I just hope the DA's office gets on this and stays on it. This has happened too often and for too long.

Residents oppose moving large scale events like Earth Day to Balboa Park's West Mesa

I think the West Mesa would work, especially if they set things up from Upas St south to the very end of the park. The Gay Day parade holds their after party there every year and the turnout for that is massive and it goes on for the entire weekend with no permanent damage to the park or neighborhood. I suspect Earth Day celebs would be sure to leave no litter or footprints behind. It would be better than no Earth Day at all.

Afterimage: Zero Dark Thirty

Yes, that was a very convenient turn of events with the cell phone. Magic? What got me though, was when they entered the building where OBL was and shot one guy who had a gun, and then shot the woman who ran to the guy, who was unarmed. Maybe they thought she was going to pick up that guys gun, but they didn't wait to find out. That was murder.

Baja fugitive arrested in Utah

How easy it is? What's easy? He tried to get across twice and got caught both times, and then when he did make it , he got busted in Utah and now he's going back to Mexico again. Doesn't sound like anyone has a good crossing plan to me.
