Judge denied access to man who abused mom

I'll reserve judgment until we see what the sentence is. The guy beat his 92-year old mother black and blue. I don't think he deserves to be commended for coming back to the level of human. Nobody should be allowed to do that and then, just because they are an alcoholic, be congratulated when they stop drinking and beating people. He's got a long way to go.

Battery thieves? What next? Does anyone know if you have a AT&T or Sprint cell phone and you are in TJ and dial 066, will you get the cops? Or, do you have to be subscribed to a Mexican cellular service for that to work? Just curious.

Unless these kids are cartel kids, they are in for some tough times. How dumb can they be to rob a house of all these valuables and then go camp at the nearby beach? They don't sound like experienced b&e types. They sound more like the y&d (young and dumb). Their education is about to begin.

New releases opening this week

I have to agree with you about "Beyond the Pines," Matt. That story went beyond the pines, then over the river and through the woods and we don't know where it went. It was a very unsatisfying ending, and I think it was because the first half, or more, of the movie was about one guy, and then...it wasn't, and I felt like I didn't know who this movie was about and I had been tricked, or misled, or something. I don't like movies that start out telling you a story and then the story changes and the movie is not about the people your thought it was about. I mean wtf? It looked to me like somebody didn't know what story they wanted to tell, and so they dragged it out to see if a better story developed..but it didn't. A big letdown.
