Grunge in the Park

Whoa, people! What is happening here? I commented on the lady's name because it is spelled one way with the photo and another in the article; what is this issue with parking? I don't even think that chalk note was meant for Siobhan. Not unless there was something else that occurred that we are not aware of. Siobhan? Did you cut someone off on your way into the park or some such action that people with chalk would not appreciate? Personally, I don't have an issue with people who back into a space. In fact, I've read, due to the way cars steer with their front wheels, you can actually back into a space more easily than you can if you were to turn forward into a space. Based on my experience, I believe that's true. But I still don't understand why someone called S. an a-hole.

Siobhan, I think Ms. Jones may have wrote that nasty message in the parking lot. It is possible she was upset over the fact that you did not know if her name was spelled Kat or Cat. Although, that would have been very prescient of her, considering the article had not yet gone to print. Hmmmm.

In the footsteps of the Cahuilla

This is a great hike, although I would suggest one try it during a cool spell. It was while I was on the trail above Hidden Spring that I came face to face with the mountain sheep I use for my icon. Big ram. He was coming up the trail and I was going down after exploring Jackass Flats (lots of Indian artifacts). He seemed very calm and patiently waited while I snapped over 20 shots using my old 35 mm Pentax, and then tired of waiting, he just slowly walked off the trail and around me, continuing on his way to the top.

Well I sure hope you told them before you left the theater, Scott. It's bad enough we have to put up with whatever changes the corporations throw at us, but when unconcerned staff allow improper projections, lighting, or sound to go on, it really makes a bad situation worse. I know they don't make much money, but doesn't anyone give a good goddamn?

Boardwalks to be built for fairy shrimp

Ha! That's nothing. I was once chastised by a park ranger for stepping off a trail to get a better shot of a sunset behind some cliffs. The ranger said by stepping off the trail I was destroying the "crypto-biotic communities" that lived in the soil. I said, "If you really want to get into it, there are cypto-biotic communities that live on the hairs of your ass and every time you sit down you destroy them. So, maybe you should never sit down again." It's one thing to be aware of nature and respectful, and another to be completely moronic.
