Coyotes are dogs, too

The idea of hunting coyotes is absurd. It is like shooting crows. They are everywhere and easy to find. Coyotes are opportunistic feeders and consequently, very easy to call in or bait. I had one lounging around my campsite in the Anza-Borrego desert years ago. If I tried, I'm sure I could have had it eating out of my hand in a day or two. Killing these creatures would be cruel. They are just two steps removed from a house pet. If anything, they should be trapped and relocated.

Kensington Video is closing!

Sad news. I hate to see these old institutions disappear. It changes the character of the place and IMHO not for the better. There was a guy that opened a video/art school/music/cd business on University Ave in Hillcrest not long ago. I think his name was Joe. He didn't stay long. Said he was relocating to North Park. Not sure if he made it, but at least he was trying. I think the only way a specialized business such as this can survive is to evolve into a hybrid multi-function operation. Maybe the folks who are running the Digital Gym on El Cajon Blvd might be interested. It would be a natural fit.

I wear it once and get rid of it? Good grief! Are there really women out there this dumb? And how is it that the women with the most money end up with the least brains? Siobhan, I'm not sure you are doing anyone any favors by reminding us San Diego has its share of bimbos.

What do these numbers represent? Daily? Weekly? I would guess nobody really gives a flying fish either way, but I'm just curious if this is based on anything real or just fish stories for the tourists?

Ritual fund

I don't see how one could conclude what party the man belonged to based on this story, but based on the fact that he was obviously a greedy capitalistic pig, who stole from his own people, lied to them, cooked the books and could care less about their welfare and made a mockery of their beliefs, I would say it's abundantly clear, he is a Republican. The fact that he is Jewish amazed me; I would have sworn he was a reborn Christian.

This is the kind of ship Cabrillo would have had if money were not object (and he had access to wood from all over the world). Can't wait to see this baby float. It's been a long time coming.

Pacific Imperial Railroad still can't get through Carrizo Gorge

This is such a disappointing story in so many ways. It seems poor little Sandy Eggo is just too much of a podunk backwater town to have its own East/West rail line. If this thing could ever got going, it would take a considerable bite out of the shipping that now goes to Long Beach and LA. Not only that, but if shipping links and concurrent distribution facilities were ever established, thousands of jobs could be provided for people on both sides of the border. I know a large part of the story is just poor luck, with floods and storms and what have you, but I also think there are some pretty powerful forces (trucking, for example) who do not want to see this line ever get beyond the planning stages. Another major problem is having the line run south of the border. Now, with all the attention on illegal border crossings and the drug cartels, I don't see how this is ever going to happen under the current plan and route. It is really a shame because if this rail line ever got going, it might transform San Diego into a full-blown city instead of the cul de sac it is. It's not too late, but whenever I read the details of the machinations that have gone on and are going on, I just feel like there is very little hope for this choo-choo.
