Union-Tribune Slashing Wages and Benefits, Warning of More Staff Reductions
He doesn't have the personality to be a cop. ============================= Good or bad that's basically what I've been saying all along. Not everyone can do this job, or wants to do this job. Even if one of the requirements is a GED, the actual job requirements are still very selective, thus justifying the higher wages.— January 22, 2009 7:57 a.m.

Most people know I graduated when this nonsense is usually brought up it did not occur to me that some people here might not know JF was telling another one of his whoppers. ============================= I was being a little tongue in cheek. Johnny likely did graduate. However, he still couldn't get hired. He claims that he "changed his mind". I have my doubts. One interesting thing however. Johnny was doubting my claims that 30% fail out of the fire academy. Yet he claims 25% failed out of his police academy. Shockingly similar. Gee, maybe I wasn't exaggerating. Guess maybe not everyone can do my job.— January 21, 2009 8:29 p.m.

Pamela Anderson was Johnny's mother? That explains everything.— January 21, 2009 8:15 p.m.

I thought Freud was well trained in mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. ======================================= Only with his mother. Wait. That was Oedipus. Thank God I got that GED.— January 21, 2009 1:07 p.m.

First, I told you we could do 500. Second, Fred, do you REALLY want me posting on your wiki? Third, thanks for the link to the CityBeat. http://www.sdcitybeat.com/cms/story/detail/the_u_…— January 21, 2009 12:49 p.m.

People should respect ALL professions and occupations. I for one respect all people who put in an HONEST days work for an HONEST days pay. ========================= Once again, you should check out the Mike Rose book, "The Mind at Work: Valuing the Intelligence of the American Worker". Or check out his blog at http://mikerosebooks.blogspot.com/ I don't buy your last sentence. You've continually whined that having a degree automatically makes someone worth more. I don't buy that for an instant. You say, "If you want to get paid like a physician..." OK. I ponder this. If your progeny lay dying in a public place would you rather a paramedic or a podiatrist show up to help? Maybe a psychiatrist? Heck, even a pediatrician? Which gets paid a pretty penny more? Which is more valuable to you?— January 20, 2009 9:49 p.m.

Like I said, I will stack my background up against yours any day of the week and come out miles ahead. ================= That's OK, Johnny... I'll stack my W2 up against yours... Yes, I think JF helped Johnny make his point. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Actually, I was being sarcastic. If one believes Johnny's bit about firefighters all making $250K then I might have a chance. Johnny is obviously hung up on little pieces of paper called sheepskins by many. He feels that the more of them you have, the more you should make. To a point that's true. However, that's not always the case, even in last year's economy. Blue collar workers often make more than master's educated social workers. Meanwhile, the certificates and letters that matter the most to me are not those conferred by colleges. They're the ones that taught me to be a good firefighter... and even more importantly the ones from citizens saying, "Thank you". Incidentally, anyone else notice our new president's mention of firefighters in today's inaugural speech? That's the bottom line in our value to society. People respect the sacrifices we make and support us.— January 20, 2009 7:42 p.m.

Sorry guys, Xray isn't me. I have my GED, so I would not have screwed up the who's/whose bit. Perhaps Xray is striving to learn the art of trolling from Johnny.— January 20, 2009 7:28 p.m.

So when you get into HARVARD, complete 3 years and then start the ground breaking software technology... =============== Gee, weren't you panning Harvard earlier in this thread? Now it's the cat's meow?— January 19, 2009 10:10 p.m.
