Watershed moment...and the levee holds
Even if she WAS a top-flight venture capitalist who was unfairly kept out of the higher ranks of her firm, how can we differentiate between being unfairly kept out of higher ranks due to plain ol' office politics vs. being kept out due to her gender? Maybe there's no moral difference between those 2 scenarios but I think there may be a legal difference.— March 29, 2015 1:27 p.m.
Is Peevey worth $882 an hour?
Ironically, I bet the utilities were effectively spending more than $882/hr for Peevey's help when he was on CPUC. I think they got their money's worth.— March 29, 2015 1:18 p.m.
Chargers in Inglewood? Looks like it
Carlos Don has been reporting on stadium issues in San Diego for as long as I can remember (at least 20 years probably longer). His reporting has consistently been accurate for anything he reports as facts and he has always been clear that some speculation is involved whenever he states anything which isn't a 100% proven verified fact. Do you have any specific claims Don has made which are actually "half-truths"— March 28, 2015 1:26 p.m.

I think Bill Becker is a troll - an embarrassment to Bills everywhere! From this Bill I think Visduh knows A LOT and has made many great contributions to these comment boards.— March 28, 2015 1:05 p.m.
Chargers in Inglewood? Looks like it
Yeah I think this is one of those hypothetical trades that would work out well for the Chargers (get new promising QB) and Rivers (gets to avoid LA and finish his career close to his Alabama family) but wouldn't necessarily work out for the Titans who aren't yet to the point of being a good QB away from contention.— March 28, 2015 1:02 p.m.
Watershed moment...and the levee holds
I have no idea if she was discriminated against or if she is just whining and grabbing for money. I think it would be almost impossible to prove discrimination against one person. I think it would be very difficult for anyone outside the daily workings of that firm to know if she was actually doing a bad job or if she was doing a great job and discriminated against due to gender. Even if she was doing a great job but held back from promotions what is the difference between gender discrimination vs. plain old back-stabbing office politics.— March 28, 2015 3:40 a.m.
Chargers in Inglewood? Looks like it
Other rumors (heard on XTRA sports) suggest Philip Rivers does not want to move to L.A. Speculation is that the Chargers could trade Rivers to Tennessee to be able to get the #2 draft pick. Tennessee gets a pro-bowl level QB, Chargers get to draft Marcus Mariotta to start at QB for them in LA.— March 27, 2015 9:47 p.m.
H-1B – a scheme to lower engineers’ wages
"Entitlement Attitude" LOL. It's the employers in high tech who are the ones with the entitlement attitude not employees - and frankly with the way that congress has done their bidding I can almost understand it. There is supply and demand for labor as well as everything else. If the supply is artificially increased by government then the price (i.e. salary) drops. I don't think it's fair for the government to single out specific groups (high tech workers) to have their salaries lowered by artificially increasing supply. Obviously you disagree.— March 27, 2015 4:24 a.m.
Blackout ban may suggest L.A. mess close to solution
My other guess: "We can always move to London" will be the new "We can always move to LA" for NFL teams hoping for taxpayer freebies...— March 25, 2015 10:49 a.m.
Blackout ban may suggest L.A. mess close to solution
My guesses: The Chargers and Rams will play in Inglewood by 2020. Now that so many teams have new stadia then there is more value in putting teams in LA. The NFL and it's owners will find a way to make it happen. Regardless of the weak fan base in LA there is still a huge valuation premium to being in LA so it's in the Chargers' financial best interest to move to LA unless there is a pretty hefty corporate welfare check written to the Spanos family (e.g. 500M+ towards a new stadium)— March 25, 2015 10:48 a.m.
