NFL team could play in L.A. in 2016
I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL owners have already decided the LA site(s)/team(s). I would be surprised if that information got out. These guys are all masters of bluffing, misinformation, and manipulation.— May 21, 2015 10:28 p.m.

There are busses running into and out of the Rose Bowl parking lot - I think most of them are chartered but I imagine it's pretty easy to get a bus to any major transit hub in the greater LA / San Gabriel valley area. I know there's light rail running along the 210 fwy now through the San Gabriel valley - I imaging one could hop on a bus from the Rose Bowl to a transit station somewhere in Pasadena. Still it would be a pretty involved process. Considering LA traffic + Rose Bowl congestion it could easily take 2+ hours each way to get to the Rose Bowl from many parts of the LA metro area - whether by mass transit or by private car.— May 21, 2015 10:19 p.m.

I've been there at least a few dozen times - mostly for UCLA games but I saw a concert there once and a soccer game once. I think it's incredible venue to experience a tailgate and a game at. But I also wonder how the residents put up with it.— May 21, 2015 10:14 p.m.

The Rose Bowl does not have easy access to/from the freeway system. A game at the Rose Bowl ties up many Pasadena streets - not to mention nearby freeways - for hours before and hours after the game. A lot of old money lives around the Rose Bowl. Money that could afford to tie things up in court - or tie things up in the legislature - for a long time.— May 21, 2015 12:41 p.m.

Per Liam Dillon's analysis (VOSD) the CSAG plan would cost taxpayers roughly $1B over the long run. http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/topics/land-use/th…— May 21, 2015 11:17 a.m.

"The pushing of the L.A. date forward may be considered a way to **deflate** the task-force suggestions" Another deflate-gate!— May 20, 2015 9:50 p.m.
On the value of fish wrap...
We usually get a subscription to the U-T for a few weeks around the holidays so we can get the ads for the "Black Friday" sales. In some cases the print ads are easier to navigate through than the online ads. That's about the extent of my U-T reading these days.— May 20, 2015 6:33 p.m.
This Chargers stadium proposal? Watch it.
If there are 2 teams in LA - one AFC and one NFC - then if I understand the scheduling I think every team in the NFL would have to visit L.A. at least once every 4 years for a regular season game. So transplants living in L.A. who are just dying to see the team they grew up with wouldn't have to wait for the team to play the Chargers.— May 20, 2015 1:42 p.m.

For me that would be the best scenario. We keep the Chargers and hopefully keep the corporate welfare check to under 200M. I think any corporate welfare is wrong but 200M is better than 500M+.— May 20, 2015 12:48 p.m.

I think what you're saying makes sense. There may actually be a fair amount of Charger business from L.A. - not necessarily fan base but game attendees - coming from L.A. Southern CA of course has a lot of transplants so there are thousands of Packer fans, Patriot fans, Cowboy fans, etc. in the southern CA area. An LA resident who is a big fan of, say, the Browns might make a trip from LA to SD to see the Browns play the Chargers. So anyway, I think many of the Packer/Cowboy/Brown/etc fans from LA would may stop making the trip to SD to see their team play if a team were put in LA. Or maybe not - an NFL team only plays a team outside it's division at home once every several years - especially teams of the opposing conference. So maybe a Cowboy fan in LA will still come see the Cowboys in SD even if they saw them play in LA.— May 20, 2015 6:48 a.m.
