But what are we manufacturing?
I must admit there are a dizzying array of unemployment rates from U1 (or is that a submarine) U2 (or is that a rock band) to U6. It seems the higher the U number goes the more realistic the unemployment number really is. From http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t15.htm "U-6 Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force." The U-6 number from the attached website is in double-digits, which is probably more realistic in my opinion. It's clear from many measures that income inequality is growing.— June 20, 2015 10:06 a.m.
Don't move here for great childcare or education
I think San Diego is a great place to live and raise kids - IF you can afford it.— June 18, 2015 7:48 a.m.
West Nile high
I would have hoped a silver lining to the drought would be fewer places for mosquitos to breed.— June 18, 2015 7:45 a.m.
Barber-slash-slasher gets ten years in jail
He should be locked up for life - either in prison or in a mental health facility. There is no way he could ever be considered safe in the general public.— June 15, 2015 10:09 p.m.
San Diego's convention center sails in choppy financial waters
Coming up with a title for ones' self and insisting that others refer to you by that title seems a bit egotistical to me.— June 13, 2015 4:54 p.m.
San Diego's convention center sails in choppy financial waters
I was continuing with the Star Wars theme from Ponzi's quote (which references Obi-Wan Kenobi's comments to Luke Skywalker entering Mos Eisley spaceport). My quote compared Papa to Darth Vader I do find it very odd that someone in real life wants to be referred to as "Papa" by the community in general. Seems like something out of a comic book or an old gangster movie.— June 12, 2015 7:36 a.m.

He is our "Papa". Search your feelings. You know it to be true.— June 11, 2015 5:57 p.m.

Qualcomm's "bounteous" executive pay noted
I suspect your guess is correct. The real negotiation is between the NFL team owners - those negotiations will determine which team(s) end up in L.A.— June 9, 2015 5:04 p.m.
Qualcomm's "bounteous" executive pay noted
As long as the NFL is in business I think moving to LA will increase the Chargers value by at least $1B. Even if there are zero die-hard Chargers fans in L.A. there will be a lot of NFL fans and more importantly a lot of companies willing to pay for pricey luxury boxes. I'm not sure I see much risk for the Chargers.— June 9, 2015 6:50 a.m.
