Tough times for bulldog lawyer Mary Frances Prevost
I think there are some difficult moral / ethical questions about 2nd chances. I don't think someone should be kept from all gainful employment after a felony and forced to live their life on welfare (hence LA's "ban the box" law to discourage employers from blanket rejection of all felon job applicants). But I'm a bit uncomfortable with the idea of a violent felon practicing law.— December 12, 2016 12:10 p.m.

I'm still a bit puzzled as to how someone with an attempted murder conviction could possibly practice law for so long. Does the CA bar not even bother to do simple internet background checks? Did she somehow have her record expunged? I would have thought that a felony attempted murder conviction stays on the public record forever. Or did the bar decide for whatever reason that she deserved another chance? It is surprising to me that one can practice law after such a serious crime.— December 12, 2016 7:13 a.m.

At this point I wouldn't assume anything is completely decided until they've physically moved.— December 11, 2016 9:50 p.m.

Are we certain the Mary Frances Prevost referenced in Post and People stories is the same one referenced in this story? It would be a big coincidence to have 2 blondes with the same name graduating GW from about the same time but not impossible.— December 11, 2016 9:57 a.m.

It will be a big leap - certainly Google and a few other companies have working prototypes already. I'm sure there are still some technical challenges to work out and there will be a lot of legal and ethical issues to work out as well. But I think eventually those issues will get worked out and they will become the standard.— December 9, 2016 9:09 p.m.

I think within the next few decades self-driving cars will make DUI's much less frequent.— December 9, 2016 4:48 p.m.

Based on the latest rumors you might not have to mention the San Diego Chargers much longer http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18183812/san-d…— December 9, 2016 3:07 p.m.

Cole Casey had a very well written post up until the line "we can all deal with the court system being stacked against us" The post would have been a lot more convincing if Cole had left out that line indicating how grossly biassed he is towards a defense attorney's perspective on things.— December 9, 2016 8 a.m.
Trump treasury pick Mnuchin tied to smelly banking
"It is not taxpayer funded." You are saying that if the DIF runs out of money (say if there are a large number of bank failures) the United States government WILL NOT honor the claim "FDIC insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government." https://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/faq.html— December 6, 2016 3:27 p.m.
Trump treasury pick Mnuchin tied to smelly banking
It says right on FDIC's website "FDIC insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government." https://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/faq.html So ultimately all the taxpayers ARE on the hook for FDIC payments.— December 3, 2016 4:19 p.m.
