Yeah - I hadn't thought of that. It's possible that Filner said or did something that wasn't intended to be offensive but was. Something ignorant but not hateful (those 2 things don't always go together). However, the sense I get is that all key players know exactly what the incident was.— July 14, 2013 5:34 p.m.

I don't know what happened - it might have been something really minor or it might have been something really serious. Maybe Donna Frye, etc don't even know what happened. One person knows for sure. Mayor Filner knows what happened. If Mayor Filner wants the citizens of San Diego to give him a fair assessment about what happened he needs to tell us specifically what he did.— July 14, 2013 1:44 p.m.

Barring something really, really weird - like the GOP planting someone in the office to flirt with Filner or somehow entrapping him - we know that the blame lies with Filner. We just don't know how bad what exactly he did was. At this point, there's a wide range of possibilities as to what he did.— July 14, 2013 10:13 a.m.

Personally I don't buy into the implication that the harassment scandal is, as HRC would put it, some sort of vast right wing conspiracy. The root cause of the harassment scandal was Bob Filner's actions and/or words. Unless we hear something really unexpected the blame lies solely with Bob Filner.— July 13, 2013 5:45 p.m.

He may very well have been proven guilty to the 3 who spoke up. We don't know what Frye, Gonzalez, and Briggs know. For all we know, Filner has been proven guilty to them. They may have incontrovertible facts and data that prove conclusively that Filner is unfit for office. We don't know because they haven't said exactly what they base their request for resignation on.— July 12, 2013 7:05 a.m.

Yes, there is a wide variety of behavior which might be considered "sexual harassment" now ranging from complimenting a co-worker's appearance to demanding sex for promotions. So in order for me to assess Filner I would want to know more detail about what he did.— July 12, 2013 6:59 a.m.

So what exactly did he do? Anyone know yet? Or even unsubstantiated rumors?— July 11, 2013 7:25 p.m.

Yeah. I have a feeling we will eventually find out the whole story. What exactly did he do? I'm holding out judgment until I find out exactly what he did - was this an inappropriate relationship thing (side fling with a staffer) or something where he was abusive (trading favors for sex)?— July 11, 2013 7:25 p.m.

Donna Frye again demonstrated her integrity today. Whether or not one agrees with her it's almost unheard of for a politician to ask a member of their own party to step down.— July 11, 2013 7:12 p.m.
