Bookstore to close — but not why you think
Yeah I think if you look at strip mall names pretty much any part of San Diego North of SR-52 and West of I-15 is either La Jolla, Del Mar, or RSF.— March 30, 2014 10:14 p.m.
Bookstore to close — but not why you think
The weird thing is they JUST finished a massive renovation of that whole shopping center, including a lot of changes to the parking lots. If they were going to put in a parking structure I don't know why they didn't do it then. Why keep building and rebuilding continuously, which inconveniences everybody instead of making all the changes at once? It seems to be a successful shopping center so I guess they know what they are doing, but still...— March 30, 2014 6:43 a.m.
Bookstore to close — but not why you think
I find the name snobbery that shopping centers use hilarious. That shopping center is at least a mile East of the city limits of Del Mar.— March 30, 2014 6:40 a.m.
San Diego water: You will pay
Ray used to have a show on the weekend on KOGO 600 (part of their weekend lineup of financial service informercials masquerading as informative radio shows). I don't think he's on anymore.— March 27, 2014 9:41 p.m.
San Diego water: You will pay
"This will cost buckets of money". So are you suggesting a certain former radio host with supposedly back tested investment strategies will help pay for this?— March 26, 2014 6:05 p.m.
The inside story of San Diego Opera's demise
I think the original idea behind "trickle-down" economics - that the government should have policies which are favorable to businesses and wealth producers - may have had some merit. But whatever the original intent, in practice trickle-down has started to turn into a shift of wealth to the upper classes, without any real improvement for the lower or middle classes.— March 23, 2014 7:46 p.m.
The inside story of San Diego Opera's demise
This is a sign of the decline of the middle class - and even of the upper middle class. A household making $150K / yr in San Diego certainly doesn't have to worry about having basic needs met, but after skyrocketing housing, energy, tuition, etc costs, something like opera tickets might be regarded as an un-necessary luxury. I think the middle and upper middle class (those who aren't unemployed) are working longer hours for less pay now. But hey, housing prices are strong and the Dow is at record levels so it's all good for the ruling classes.— March 23, 2014 10 a.m.
Mayor Faulconer kills proposal to purge emails
Doing the right thing for the wrong reason is still doing the right thing.— March 19, 2014 6:19 a.m.
As new fee imposed, university exec gets a raise
"the Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame." Is that a joke? There really is a Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame? OK - that's it. I'm putting on my tin-foil hat and going down to live in my bunker. The world has now officially gone insane.— March 17, 2014 5:48 p.m.
Ted Leitner has on-air meltdown at SDSU game
Yes, TL definitely over-reacted and let a personal issue distract from his primary job - which was to announce a basketball game.— March 17, 2014 5:44 p.m.
