Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
Possibly even Moore (bad pun) amazing was that he didn't even get a slap on the wrist for selling $800M of fraudulently overvalued Peregrine Systems stock. How could a CEO possibly know anything about his own company's financial practices?— April 27, 2014 10:56 p.m.
Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
The other thing is the NBA has a new commissioner, Adam Silver. Will Silver have a difficult time asserting himself because he's new. Or will he come in guns blazing hoping to establish himself as a strong leader?— April 27, 2014 10:16 p.m.
Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
If the tape were fake I'm pretty sure Sterling's P.R. team would have been screaming that by now. I wonder, however, if there is enough proof about the origin of the tape for the NBA to take action against Sterling.— April 27, 2014 6:44 p.m.
Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
My guess is publicly we'll see Sterling apologize profusely and spend time in sensitivity training. Privately I doubt he will change one bit.— April 27, 2014 10:58 a.m.
Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
I honestly really don't know what the NBA can/will do about this. Everyone has known for decades that Sterling did a bad job of managing the Clippers as their horrendous track record shows. A lot of people knew that he's a slumlord who has discriminated against minority tenants (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/11/don…). I bet a lot of people privately knew he was a bigot but as long as the right people are all making the right money those sorts of things just kind of get swept under the rug. Now his bigottry is out in the public eye. Well, sort of. If TMZ was posting comments that were intended as private, is the NBA able to act on those comments? I really don't know.— April 27, 2014 10:47 a.m.
Sterling's racial remarks cause a stir
Like I've said before John Moores and Dean Spanos were not THE worst owners in sports! Sterling is a real piece of work...— April 26, 2014 8:39 p.m.
Millions for football in San Diego, zilch for opera
Yes I'm sure I would be strongly opposed to it's use by a professional team if I lived there. It ties up all the surface streets and freeways near the area for a couple of hours before and after a big game. And I don't know how anyone manages to play golf there after a football game. But as a place to grill some food, have a couple beers, maybe throw a football around before a game - it's really been a fun experience for me as a fan.— April 25, 2014 9:04 p.m.
Millions for football in San Diego, zilch for opera
And the Rose Bowl is definitely unparallelled (in So. Cal at least) for tailgating.— April 24, 2014 6:23 p.m.
Millions for football in San Diego, zilch for opera
If Buffalo or Green Bay gets a new outdoor stadium it would be interesting to see if the Super Bowl goes there.— April 24, 2014 1:31 p.m.
Millions for football in San Diego, zilch for opera
I think the parking and traffic problems really haven't been that bad. To me the issue is really what's an appropriate use of public money. I don't think public funds should heavily subsidize an industry which provides few middle class jobs.— April 24, 2014 6:26 a.m.
