Super Bowl "wish list" items are requirements
Sez me, Maybe Canepa has come to his senses - or at least figured this whole thing has gone far enough. It's a little bit harder now to make the argument "San Diego can have a SB every 5 years if only they would build a stadium" when the NFL has made it clear they will have a SB ANYWHERE that an expensive stadium gets built.— June 12, 2014 9:24 p.m.
Paul's princely pay
Do you guys think the "say-on-pay" provisions in Dodd-Frank (allowing shareholders non-binding votes on CEO pay) have made much difference in CEO pay?— June 12, 2014 6:43 a.m.
Super Bowl "wish list" items are requirements
Buffalo's stadium isn't that new. I'm sure the NFL will be pulling the 'ol "build us a stadium because it will benefit the economy" song and dance there soon. I wonder if they would build another outdoor stadium in Buffalo and if so if they would have a SB in Buffalo. Not as cold as Minn - but a TON of snow there.— June 10, 2014 8:27 p.m.
Super Bowl "wish list" items are requirements
Perhaps there are some people who believe it but don't want to say it. The National Football League has certainly been known to suppress information that might paint it in a bad light (e.g. forcing cancellation of PBS/ESPN partnership on concussion documentary http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/23/r… )— June 10, 2014 4:56 a.m.
Super Bowl "wish list" items are requirements
Well, maybe cities haven't figured out that spending a billion dollars or so on a football stadium is a horrible investment - but at least they're starting to figure out that spending up to FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS to host an Olympics is a huge waste of money. After Sochi, many applicant cities for the 2022 Winter Olympics are dropping like flies. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/29/sports/olympics…— June 9, 2014 9:07 p.m.
Mr. Buckets of Money
I kinda wondered how that worked. Many of the weekend shows on 600 KOGO initially seem like advice shows until you start listening for a while and realize they're really all basically informercials.— June 8, 2014 9:55 p.m.
NFL seeks larger (court) audience
It would be interesting to see if many team physicians end up testifying. I think the team physicians are intrinsically in a position of gross conflict of interest - one interest being the well-being of the team the other interest being the well-being of the player. I'm not sure how to remedy this but maybe the NFLPA should insist that any time a player is injured or has a head trauma that player should be seen by a physician who is bound by confidentiality to not provide information to the league.— June 5, 2014 6:50 a.m.
Golfer Mickelson under insider trading investigation
Unless the Feds have written or electronic evidence of the collusion isn't this sort of thing pretty difficult to prove? Even if the pattern of trades makes it obvious something funny was going on is that enough to prove insider trading? Or does the SEC hope that maybe even if they can't prove insider trading they can catch someone in a lie somewhere (a la Martha Stewart)?— June 1, 2014 7:34 a.m.
Public utilities commission's rape of the ratepayers
"It would require extensive study to quantify such amounts," Hmmm. We are talking about 4 BILLION DOLLARS here. Maybe I'm being naive, but I would think they could probably spend, say 0.1% of that amount ($4M) to quantify the amounts in great detail.— May 5, 2014 9:19 p.m.
Feel sorry for Donald Sterling?
Even if Silver did the right thing for the wrong reasons he still did the right thing. And he handled it cleanly and quickly.— May 2, 2014 12:47 p.m.
