Ex-Sanders aide gets $6,000 a month for Balboa Park centennial role
The city has a Memorandum of Understanding with Balboa Park Celebration, Inc.: http://www.balboapark.org/sites/default/files/sig… Has anyone seen the reports that the MOU requires? As stated in Section 3.03(b), the most recent report was due on February 1, 2013. .— February 14, 2013 9:10 a.m.
San Diego's convention center expansion would build into a glut
Thank you. You are right, and it is Judge Prager.— February 13, 2013 1:22 p.m.
San Diego's convention center expansion would build into a glut
Thanks. I just tried to look it up...If the case number is 37-2012-00097148-CU-MC-CTL, then it was first assigned to Judge Timothy Taylor, but is now in Judge Jeffrey Barton's court. Don't know if this is correct. No entries have been recorded in that Register of Actions since last August. In any case, I bet Goldsmith doesn't want to see Judge Taylor again too soon!— February 13, 2013 10:53 a.m.
San Diego's convention center expansion would build into a glut
Thanks for this summary of where it all stands. The plundering of paradise goes on, and on, and on. Waiting to see how the hairbrained validation lawsuit goes...who is the judge?— February 13, 2013 10 a.m.
Todd Gloria still ready to move forward on Plaza de Panama Project
Good comments, JavaJ, and everyone. Off topic, but only slightly, re: the term "hair-brained." Although for centuries the spelling for members of the genus Lepus has varied between "hare" and hair," the term referring to senseless behavior refers to hares. I think you are unconsciously thinking about Gloria's and Goldsmith's apparent alliance, thus have "hair" on your brain, just as senseless hair sits on top of Goldsmith's brain. That said, from Wikipedia, and getting back to Gloria's senseless behavior, the harebrained "hare" is most appropriate: "Normally a shy animal, the ... hare changes its behavior in spring, when hares can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around meadows; this appears to be competition between males to attain dominance .... During this spring frenzy, hares can be seen "boxing"; one hare striking another with its paws (probably the origin of the term "mad as a March hare"). For a long time, this had been thought to be intermale competition, but closer observation has revealed it ...[ahh, nevermind]" I can't wait till March! Someone photoshop Gloria with rabbit ears? Please?— February 13, 2013 8:49 a.m.

Lobbyists use Twitter to rip Filner over downtown banquet speech
Oh, and I forgot to say, Channel 10 ABC SD tried to get one of the Twitterati (hint: he's on the Board of DTSDP) smacking Filner to do an interview about the SDDTP meeting. Didn't happen. So Ch 10 just reports on the tweets! Headline: "San Diego Mayor Bob Filner's remarks at event criticized" AND the subheading "Filner took aim at notable political figures" ...but repeating the twits' tweets about only one so-called notable, Goldsmith. Notable? Political? The City Atty"??? Man, thank goodness we have the Reader, because there aint no other news reporters in town.— February 9, 2013 6:31 p.m.

Lobbyists use Twitter to rip Filner over downtown banquet speech
Oh come on! You can't rewrite history. It's all still out there and will exist forever in our memories and in the vast internet universe archives. For complicated issues that I know a whole lot about, involving the city and its machinations, vosd has failed hugely to report/research the facts. It was obvious from the beginning that the vosd followed the UT approach: if an issue reflecting poorly on Sanders/the city was reported at all, the report aimed to obfuscate, to hide the complications and issues, to make the city seem like a benevolent daddy trying to save the citizens from their own misguided desires. Uh, ..."angrily fighting with the Sanders flaks"? ...I'm cracking up! The friendship (and now outsider alliance) between the vosd bloggers and the Sanders PR staffers/UT flaks (and now former staffers/remaining flaks) was and is shamelessly apparent and unprofessional. It totally destroyed any idea of journalistic integrity. This is the final thing I'll say, b/c this back and forth is silly. You should just get busy being a journo and quit sniping and snarking. I liked your Kaiser hospice report. Do more of that and get off the Reader. Blog - Noun: "A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis." Perhaps you'd prefer I call it a "MAB" or a "newstream"?? OK. I recall some recent entry in the Scott MAB/newstream, by one of the other mabbers/streamers, that consisted entirely of a series of postings from the mabbers'/streamers' tweets! Stupendously vapid! Not to say, the laziest "article" ever. This, from wiki: "recently "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally [We wish!] edited. MABs from newspapers, other media outlets, universities, think tanks, interest groups and similar institutions account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic. The rise of Twitter and other "microblogging" systems helps integrate MABs and single-author blogs into societal newstreams. "— February 8, 2013 8 a.m.

Gettin' down low, randy. The journo challenge is not to play word games about who is commenting on other people's work product, it's to research and write something that informs. You've obviously got enough time to do the latter. Francine uses her real name on the Scott blog and doesn't worry a bit about being known for her ideas. And Filner, of all people, needs no apologists and has none. That was Sanders' game, and he was very needy in that regard. The current Outer Circle Twits and bloggers spent a large part of their day serving him. Now they are all at loose ends.— February 7, 2013 6:15 p.m.
