Whatever Mr. Jones' title, he hasn't much of a litigation track record. In Goldsmith's 2012 report from the CA's office, Jones' title and legal expertise are described:
http://www.sandiego.gov/cityattorney/pdf/2013/ar1…
> The Civil Litigation Division
> prosecutes or defends civil lawsuits
> in which the City is a party. The
> Civil Litigation Division is divided
> into five units: Civil Prosecution,
> Workers’ Compensation, Land Use
> Litigation, General Litigation and
> Special Litigation. Andrew Jones,
> Executive Assistant City Attorney and
> Don Worley, Assistant City Attorney
> are heading this division. Mr. Worley
> has over 30 years in private practice
> in land use, real estate, and business
> litigation.
Umm, well, his *title* is described. We aren't informed about his legal expertise.
In the 4th Appellate Court records, Mr. Jones' name is found only twice as an attorney in cases involving the City of San Diego:
1. In an appeal of the >$8 mill verdict against the city in the [Pablo Gomez case][1] and
2. In an appeal by Centex Homes for indemnity.
In both cases the City lost. In the Gomez case the appeal was withdrawn and the appellate court refused the City the right to petition the State Supreme Court. In the Centex case the briefs were not written by Mr. Jones (Chief Deputy City Attorney Christine Leone wrote the briefs) and the appellate court granted Centex appeal.
Don Worley and Christine Leone have represented San Diego in 15 appellate cases.
The order for remittitur in the Centex case is scheduled for issuance tomorrow.

Chalking the plank: Judge won't allow bank protester to claim first amendment rights
The judge said the trial should "not [focus on] what his motivations behind the vandalism were." But Deputy City Attorney Hazard previously stated that, to the City, motivation was a distinguishing element in bringing this case: "The People do not fear that this reading of section 594(A) will make criminals of every child using chalk. Chalk festivals may still be permitted. **Kids acting without malice** may still engage in their art."— June 25, 2013 2:24 p.m.
Ethics watchdog instructs ex-San Diego mayor on how to cool off
I wonder if Goldsmith's recently departed spokesperson, Jonathan Heller, will have any conflicts working for Collaborative Services/Cityworks? The company contracts with the City of San Diego for a variety of projects.— June 25, 2013 10:41 a.m.

Nah, this Vanguard U is where they teach Creatology. Wiki says "Vanguard has its origins in the Azusa Street Revival of the early 20th century. The Southern California Bible School was founded in 1920 by Harold K. Needham, D. W. Kerr, and W. C. Pierce. The school moved from Los Angeles to Pasadena in 1927, and was renamed the Southern California Bible College in 1939 when it gained its charter to award degrees. It gained university status in 1999." Freeman, however, went there for his Bachelor's degree in Sociology from 1970 to 1976.— June 25, 2013 10:28 a.m.

Oh R-Dot, you always get the joke references (a youth spent watching reruns, alone, on the couch in the basement, with Doritos?). You're cool. But do you really GET it? When I see a 24-point headline that says "Bad Day for Rosa Parks - They're All Bozos on This Bus" instead of "Bad Day for Filner," I might think you get it. Maybe.— June 25, 2013 9:26 a.m.

Maybe Mr. Ex-cop Darell Freeman-This-Is-My-Brother-Darell *and this is my other brother Darell* will show up in court in his Crocodile Dundee hat. BofA could have done what everyone can do: call Urban Corps to remove the "graffiti" from the PROW. As Urban Corps states on their webpage at http://www.urbancorpssd.org/graffiti.html "The graffiti department’s corpsmembers operate 6-days a week from a 24-hour hotline and self-generating visuals. Urban Corps partners with the City of San Diego, the San Diego Unified Port District, and the Cities of Chula Vista and Escondido to remove graffiti." BofA could have had free (taxpayer-funded) removal by calling the Urban Corps hot line: (800) 829-6884— June 24, 2013 3:24 p.m.
Questions raised over City Attorney's decision to release transcripts of closed session meeting
I should add: his title and his legal history aren't important, except in illustrating that Mr. Jones is more of a political operative inside the CA's office, rather than a legal star. His history of playing politics is well known and goes back years. It's very unappealing.— June 23, 2013 5:01 p.m.

Discarded fishing line injures Lake Murray’s baby osprey
How sad. I hope Project Wildlife can save the baby. There is a cam on two adult ospreys and their two recently hatched babies in Montana, and yesterday one of the adults brought a large tube of Sensodyne toothpaste to the nest. At least the tube can't harm the chicks. I notice the Montana osprey parents have been building up the sides of the nest since the babies hatched, by bringing in more sticks. Perhaps the problem with the chicks falling out of the nest at Lake Murray is a lack of locally available sticks of the right size for the parents to use to do something similar. http://cams.allaboutbirds.org/channel/27/Hellgate…— June 22, 2013 2:43 p.m.
