Good job, Reader and Dorian. The whole world is gagging.

Till råga på allt har domaren, enligt San Diego Reader, förbjudit den åtalade 40-åringen att under rättegången ens hävda sin rätt att uttrycka sig fritt.

To top it all, the judge, according to the San Diego Reader, banned the accused 40-year-old to the trial even assert their right to free expression.
This undermines the Lincoln Club claiming Filner is ruining San Diego's reputation, doesn't it? But hey, on the positive side, maybe the TMD will see it as free advertising.

Acquitted on all 13 counts of vandalism, jury says Jeff Olson should be free
Wow. Unbelievable to ask Olson to surrender his driver's license. Fair? NO! Outrageous and over-reaching. Thanks for the story, one that we'd never know if not for your report.— July 1, 2013 6:05 p.m.
Is it the mess or the message? City Attorney has been selective when prosecuting chalk vandalism
Really good work, Dorian. Just excellent investigative discovery about the police telling the LiveAction group that chalking is NOT vandalism. If and when Olson takes this to appellate court, the City is going to lose. I can even imagine the City losing an additional damages suit. Too bad for the taxpayers, who have to foot the bill for Goldsmith's political hackery.— June 30, 2013 1:42 p.m.
The current Sunroad blowup shows rank hypocrisy
Thanks for summarizing the history of this, Don. The current Sunroad burn is a big nothing-burger, except maybe for who really was involved in the ridiculous setup. Like, come on, leaving a voicemail for Faulconer, announcing your bribe? From corrupt Tom Story??? And really, though friends of Allen Jones talk about what a nice guy he is, if he wasn't involved in a setup, then he isn't someone who is smart enough to be paid by the taxpayers. If he were my employee, I'd yell very loudly at him AND fire him. At least he got to "resign." Filner needs staffers with Allen Jones' kind of expertise, but he sure doesn't need double-crossers or people who think government can be run just like businesses. Jones' ties with Sherman, Zapf, and the whole development industry in general are a bit suspect. Another aspect of the Sunroad setup, as reported by the new "watchdog," Trent Seibert, is that he included at least one lie in his story. He is a Tea Party hack from Nashville, by way of Colorado and Rick Perry's waking nightmare,Texas, who thinks that the sad events in Ben Ghazi are an Obama scandal worse than Iran Contra. Isn't it just an amazing coincidence that UT managed to find and hire him!— June 30, 2013 1:29 p.m.
City Attorney Jan Goldsmith has a history of prosecuting activists who scribble chalk on public sidewalks

Complex identity theft scheme ends with 3 year sentence
One of my credit cards got skimmed at a Bakersfield gas station a year or so ago. Credit card company caught it. The credit companies seem to have very complex computer algorithms that detect inappropriate activity. Bernstein - wow. I wonder if he has $3.7 mill available, and wonder if his license has been suspended. His patients do really like him.— June 28, 2013 7:21 p.m.
Judge issues gag order in case of man prosecuted for scribbling anti-bank messages in chalk
Here's a good acccounting of the decision Judge Howard H. Shore orchestrated in 2010, by denying a basic defense: http://www.safeaccesssd.org/2010_09_01_archive.ht…— June 27, 2013 7:30 p.m.
Judge issues gag order in case of man prosecuted for scribbling anti-bank messages in chalk
I didn't think it was appropriate to criticize Judge Shore, unless he earned criticism. He has. He has spoken in a politically charged way about this simple misdemeanor. He obviously has an axe to grind. Well then, let's see what that might be: Judge Shore has a history. He was overturned by the 4th Appellate on Oct 24, 2012, a ruling which was published (very important, as it becomes a legal precedent). The Superior Court trial at which Judge Shore presided concerned a **defendant who was denied a defense**. Sound familiar? The OBRag [reported][1] that the defendant "was denied a defense and ultimately convicted. San Diego Superior Court Judge Howard Shore, ... referred to medical marijuana as “dope,” and called California’s medical marijuana laws “a scam,” ... sentenced Jackson to 180 days in jail." Jurors selected, trial begins in case of anti-bank protester
"*Half the time the media gets it wrong anyways*"? Anyways? Oh well, in San Diego, that 50% is owned by the UT, which finally decided to report on this, primarily to smooth out the bad PR for Goldsmith. Courtesy of the Texas Watchdog alumnus.
