So Much Things to Say
The Dr. has spoken and must be respected. All snobbery aside. The litter box conscience is clean and without guilt. Is anyone else in this enviable position ?— June 25, 2010 10:28 p.m.
San Diego Gay and Lesbian News, against Gay and Lesbian Times
Who does give a crap except the bottom dwellers who sift through the cat litter box and come up with their special Delphic pronouncements about correct grammar, free speech, and things of this nature. Bah humbug.— June 25, 2010 9:58 p.m.

Dr. Peanut knows Dr. Melfi who knows Tony Soprano who is a made man. Beware infiltrators and ersatz copy editors. We know where you live. We know your real name.— June 25, 2010 9:55 p.m.

I saw no "beautiful people" but lots of folks searching for that elusive bargain in the giant economy sizes offered at Costco. The food court is a sad tribute to American's bad taste in food. Only the small birds looked relatively active as they devoured the crumbs on the ground. However, $1.50 for a hot dog or polish sausage in a bun plus an endless drink does not tempt the true foodies. I went to the Costco in Cabo San Lucas once. It was like an out of body experience as the store is laid out the same as the ones in the US. At the time the pizza came with shrimp on it. I heard that it was discontinued. You can never be too far from a Costco and those clean shoppers ! Or too thin or too rich.— June 25, 2010 12:37 p.m.

Bill Jay's photographs of the OB homeless men is in book form and still available. Stunning images. Men Like Me [Hardcover] Bill Jay (Author)— June 25, 2010 11:37 a.m.

More about Bill Jay who lived in OB for some of his illustrious career. http://marketingphotos.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/b…— June 25, 2010 11:27 a.m.

Beach communities are places apart. When the owner of the Black was interviewed on TV, I believe that he made a distinction between the aggressive new panhandlers and the older established OB homeless. A wonderful photographer named Bill Jay (now dead) did portraits of the OB homeless regulars. One man's face looked as if it had been carved from wood. There is something to the philosophy of caring for "the least of our brethren" in my opinion.— June 25, 2010 11:15 a.m.

I spent quite a bit of time at the Mission Valley Costco last evening and got to observe the natives. Everyone looked clean. The nicest Costco person helped us locate the right size wetsuit. Apparently, there were 200 in stock but only 25 on the floor. She called the warehouse, got the fork lift person to locate the other wetsuits and after 30 minutes delivered the right one to me at Customer Service. Here is a shout out to Ericka who went the extra mile.— June 25, 2010 11:07 a.m.

The piece and photo capture the moment in what is usually a very laid back community. Good job, Mr. Rice. I will leave the word edits to the professionals on the Reader staff.— June 25, 2010 7:08 a.m.
