Sweetwater Union High School District Board Tactic Meets Protest
The rest of the above post: _*Congressional Reform Act of 2011*_ 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work. If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time. THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!— October 23, 2011 4:19 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Board Tactic Meets Protest
It is so sad that the voters are being "played" by the Board in a lame attempt to "Do the right thing", when in reality it will only do the wrong thing for the Students! Consider this Fix: (Congress is mentioned but the concept would work in South County also). Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure. Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.— October 23, 2011 4:18 p.m.
The Sweetwater School Board – forget teamwork
anniej My hats off to you for a great post! IMO, it is post like yours that will get others involved. All it takes is one committed Board member to provide the "access" that all interested tax payers can then build upon... With Susan providing the upcoming notices and the Board meeting highlights, there is no reason that by next election the public will be far more educated about what their elected Officials have been up to! I suggest that everyone make themselves familiar with the Brown Act*, as it governs how ALL public meetings must be run in order to provide "Sunshine" and prevent back room dealings! * http://www.sandiego.gov/planning/community/pdf/co… +Don't let the title confuse you, the Ralph M. Brown Act is State Wide and should be mentioned often to get those elected officials to not only do the "right" thing but also give notice that anyone can see their yearly REQUIRED filing (Form 700) that is mandatory for each elected Official... It is time that everyone that pays taxes in South County get educated about what is happening to their tax dollars, especially when they should be used to better student education instead of padding anyones pockets or bottom line!— October 21, 2011 4:33 p.m.
The Sweetwater School Board – forget teamwork
Thanks Joe Like you many folks need to start attending these Board meetings and demanding answers... Ms Lopez needs all the support she can get, to push through real change.— October 21, 2011 10:17 a.m.
The Sweetwater School Board – forget teamwork
Susan Lets hope that many more Students, Faculty, Staff and tax payers will start asking about that and many other questions at every future Board meeting! Posting of future meeting agenda's is the first big step in getting more folks to attend!— October 21, 2011 8 a.m.
The Sweetwater School Board – forget teamwork
SP No surprise here, poor Boards choose POOR leaders since they want someone that will play Ball with them, instead of someone that will challenge them to excel as the public and students should demand!— October 21, 2011 7:57 a.m.
The Sweetwater School Board – forget teamwork
Thanks Like you and hopefully thousands of students and or parents of students; getting a clear picture of what is happening is THE most important first step in fixing the problems that the South County student now face! It is comments like yours that will help expose what is really happening, please continue to post your observations. I hope to read many more comments from students and or Faculty in the upcoming months!— October 21, 2011 7:54 a.m.

Occupy San Diego Moves to Civic Center, Marches on Wells Fargo
Checking back today for comments, makes me realize that NOT many are blogging about this issue and that perhaps they are using another social medium instead, if you know anymore about it how about a reply?— October 10, 2011 7:42 a.m.
Occupy San Diego Moves to Civic Center, Marches on Wells Fargo
Welcome to the new reality, which I refer to as the Mexicanation* of the US. Up to now San Diego has been financially insulated from the worst of the "downsizing" of the middle middle class because of the military spending and all the ultra wealthy folks that live in the area but not any more. For those with money everything has never been cheaper but for everyone without a job and or good credit San Diego will cease to be a "fun" place to live. San Diego will become like Hawaii, a great place to visit and party if you have lots of money but if not, then there is no future for you or your family here, as meaningful jobs become a thing of the past... Unless many more Americans start carrying signs and getting MSM access, they are doomed to whatever scraps the Ultra wealthy decide to throw their way... * http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Me… snip The "Mexicanation" is the shifting of Wealth of a Country like America, from BOTH the Middle Class and the once almost Rich to just the Ultra Wealthy; who will then control every facet of America's Government thanks to the SCOTUS's decision that makes it OK for them to donate to political campaigns!— October 9, 2011 8:27 p.m.
