Rattlesnakes percolating from dry Clairemont canyons
I was bitten by a small rattlesnake about 30 years ago at, believe it or not, Torrey Pines beach. I was carrying my Boogie Board from the parking lot, just about to go under the highway, when I felt something like a bee sting on the heel of my foot. I looked down and was shocked to see this little snake with definite rattles on its tail. I flagged down some people in the parking lot and got a ride to the hospital. They didn't want to believe me at the Scripps ER until two little dark spots appeared on the bottom of my foot. Apparently I didn't get much venom because I only got a little light headed and tingly, but it makes a good story.— August 14, 2015 3:03 p.m.
Spanos cash goes to Issa, not mayor
Anybody giving money to Issa can leave immediately, as far as I'm concerned.— August 13, 2015 3:09 p.m.
San Diego long-timers will bear water conservation burden
Fred holds up Houston as an example of a well run Nirvana. Too bad we're not just like Houston.— May 31, 2015 6:54 p.m.
Fallbook Hospital spanked by court
We do have Pedro's but will never get an In-N-Out. Rosa's has the best adobada and carnitas in town. It was always sort of reassuring to have a local hospital - I guess we'll just have to be more careful now. I come down to the flatlands for most healthcare stuff anyway.— May 19, 2015 4:12 p.m.
