San Diegans Charged in Alleged Ponzi Scheme
I find it truly amazing (!!!) that anyone, especially in these times, could fall prey to these types of weasels. 8.25% per MONTH! Makes it difficult to feel sorry for the all-too-willing losers.— July 29, 2009 10:08 a.m.

I think I've finally figured this out: this Spleef character is so perplexed, both in "philosophies" and grammatical selections, that even he (she?) got his (her?) internet alias wrong. It's SplittAtomz.— July 28, 2009 6:38 a.m.

You're making it more clear by the day, Spleef, that the only racist on this forum just happens to be the one using the term so incessantly. That would be YOU! Go figure.— July 27, 2009 8:50 a.m.

Spleef - CHILL PILL TIME, dude. "Ghetto" is purportedly of Italian origin, and was used to describe the neighborhoods where Jews resided. They were considered inferior because they were non-Christians. The Jews actually thrived there, because they found it conducive to setting up their own structure without outside interference. We're talking 1500's here, ya follow? In fact, it was largely a European phenomenon until after WWII. Most Americans residing in ghettos were quite proud of their independence and prospered very nicely. The negative connotations have come about more recently, as the hip-hop crowd often uses the term in a more derogatory fashion. (Hate sell, apparently) Maybe you need to "bone up" a bit before your next spoutathon.— July 24, 2009 11:31 a.m.

Methinks Mr. Willams dissertation is aimed more at the rabid-dog churlish behavior displayed here than at the less irascible types of fans.— July 22, 2009 7:33 a.m.

Nice try, PP: "In 1991 Bush (Senior) proposed a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the United States, Mexico, and Canada, which would lower or eliminate tariffs on trade between the three nations." -Michael Duffy, B.A. Correspondent, Time magazine. Author of Marching in Place: The Status Quo Presidency of George Bush. For someone who professes to not " give two s***s about Mexico or California", you sure can "speak on" them both. Do I hear Chicago begging you to return? Probably not, but wouldn't you be happier? Apparently, you're miserable in SoCal.— July 20, 2009 10:37 a.m.

"Response to post #21: I use "megrims" as an occasional substitute for "doldrums," when the latter seems to be getting stale. I have been using "megrims" for decades. I'm sure I've used it in the Reader. Best, Don Bauder" Apparently so. I missed it previously: By Don Bauder | Posted April 19, 2009, 7:11 a.m. "... a very good performance given the current market megrims." By Don Bauder | Published Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 "... Newspaper megrims have also hit the New York Times" To show a couple.— July 17, 2009 3:05 p.m.
