Memory -- er, uh -- Lapses at the Union-Tribune

Re #34: Let's just say I was moved to the "down" escalator, so it was the latter. The employee in question was reinstated, by the way, much to management's chagrin.— October 30, 2009 9:13 a.m.
Memory -- er, uh -- Lapses at the Union-Tribune
Re #20: Don, you typed, "I reluctantly conclude that this is still another incident that reflects very badly on the integrity of the U-T's top management....." I agree, and this is from one whose budding career there was thwarted by that same mindset evident in 1973, just after "the move", when I was "asked" to alter a statement I had written in which I was supposed to have stated that a fired employee had been warned by me previously admonishing him for the same action that had resulted in his dismissal. I recited it the way I knew it had occurred, in that it didn't. I was then told by a senior manager "This is not what we had in mind. Mull it over and see what you can come up with." Exact quote. I left it as originally written, in the process launching the beginning of my end at the U-T.— October 30, 2009 5:57 a.m.

Re #18: I forgot to add the silly ;>) thingy to # 16. Seems the "Convenient Amnesia" syndrome is still in vogue at the U-T.— October 29, 2009 10:10 a.m.

Who Killed Richard Swink?
SurfP - I might add "Your view of the world and America's place in it" to your admonition a few days ago: Duhbya-never talk politics or relegion- it only adds up to trouble (unless of course the person with whom you are talking shares your viewpoint-then it can be a rant fest!). Friends Are Like Jewels
Thanks, Josh. Both points made/taken. I will now bow out (somewhat) gracefully.— October 26, 2009 8:29 a.m.
Friends Are Like Jewels
SurfPuppy619. That is great advice that I usually adhere to. I made an exception in this all too blatant case, admittedly straying somewhat off topic in the process.— October 25, 2009 9:36 a.m.
Friends Are Like Jewels
"do you really think there are more Republican murderers than Democrats? Seriously?" See: Bush/Cheney/WMD/LIE/hundreds of thousands dead over a personal vendetta, including more than 4,200 US troops, while the perpetrator of 9/11 languishes in a remote area of Afghanistan or Pakistan. Seriously!— October 25, 2009 7:11 a.m.
