San Diego Gas & Electric rates are nation's highest
I installed solar panels on my house in April 2006. I just paid my annual bill for electricity to SDGE which totalled $55.91. My home is all electric with the exception of a gas drier, furnace and hot water heater. Maintenance is limited to going on the roof a few times a year to wash off the panels. My original investment after all rebates & tax credits was about $18K & I figure I'm well over half way to the break even point. It's the best investment I've ever made, no longer under the thumb of SDGE!— April 24, 2013 1:34 p.m.

Peregrine II? ServiceNow insiders, including Moores, dumping shares
It is amazing that these types of scams continue & nobody goes to jail, at least not the ones at the top of the heap. The latest Moores deal sounds just like a Ponzi scheme.— April 3, 2013 4:57 p.m.
Repeat felon gets 3 years California State prison
How is it that this guy only gets 3 years! Were not the other felony convictions "strike" offenses?— March 22, 2013 4:30 p.m.
RV parking ban planned for streets west of I-5
Wasn't this tried a few years back on a citywide basis & shot down? There are a lot of RV owners in SD.— March 8, 2013 12:26 p.m.
U.S. adds 236,000 jobs in February, unemployment rate drops
While a long way from being good news, the trend is in the right direction. It has been a very deep hole to dig out from with no help from the folks that dug it in the first place. It would be interesting to compare the young adult employment rates from 2008 to todays numbers.— March 8, 2013 12:13 p.m.

Dorian, can you post a map that can be resized? This one is too small to read easily. Thanks— February 20, 2013 2:08 p.m.
San Diego’s Qualcomm is the fifth-largest user of H-1B talent
Don, I don't dispute that the CPI figures are misleading as they don't include fuel & food which are the things that concern most residents, I believe those two items were removed from the CPI some years back (under a republican administration I think), in order to make inflation seem lower than it was and to reduce Social Security COLA's, much the same as the attempt now to use a chained CPI to reduce payments to SS beneficiaries. Unfortunately the CPI is the only set of numbers we have to make an apples to apples comparison over time. Conservative economists have been raising the bogeyman of inflation for over 6 years now in between worrying about deflation. Unless the economy really heats up I see little chance of inflation in the near term.— January 12, 2013 1:34 p.m.
