San Diegans cause Southwest Airlines plane diversion
Just because the group was a bunch of Chaldeans, does not give them special rights to be jerks with foul mouths, who were abusive to the flight attendants and others. And now they are proclaiming they are victims of prejudiced, and are filing suit against Southwest Airlines. This is a symptom in our nation of the ills of teaching specific groups they are victims and/or entitled. I am sorry there were no Federal Air Marshals that were on that flight who could have taken those punks down hard. It is well known inside and outside Chaldean circles, that the Chaldean male children are treated like little kings, who can do no wrong/harm. You get 5-6 of them together, and there you go.— September 7, 2015 4:16 p.m.
No fun to be Qualcomm right now
Very true my friend. People (employees) have become little numbers on spreadsheets.— July 22, 2015 8:54 p.m.

As we whistle past the graveyard...
On the day published reports came out that LA TIMES owner was buying our U-T San Diego, I offered these comments on 7-May: "Though no employees will want to hear those terms too often used now days: 'Combined operations'; 'Reduced duplication'; 'Cost efficiencies.' " So then we now know the new San Diego Union-Tribune is letting go one-third its workforce. I offer these words today: "Corporations stopped caring when they gave control to bean counting masters in Excel, who then turn their spreadsheets over to MBA's who use PowerPoint to present to ownership/board/shareholders." It is sad, because each person let go, is actually a real human. Darren— May 27, 2015 6:04 p.m.
Chargers departure could hit U-T where it hurts
I am almost wondering whether this 'going to Carson' is a strategic rouse? Fabiani is the modern day Machiavelli, or could serve as chief negotiator for ISIS. Get the villagers all worked up in San Diego, and they rally with "damn-it, we're not losing our beloved Chargers!!!" Just a thought. Now Carson is apparently offering the Chargers something without the friction and public funding, along with law$uits delaying so-called "progress." I am sure San Diego's mayor and city council have egg yoke dripping from their faces today, because that Fabiani really is clever at warfare maneuvering.— February 20, 2015 12:46 p.m.
Financial freedom, anyone?
I can tell you from first account experience, that Tony Robbins is not everything he projects himself to be, even with handlers who try to fine tune it all. Example one would be his company wanted to do business with me when I had an executive aircraft charter firm. I had had prior experience with his company actually, when I was selling vertical-industry software. But put that aside, when his secretaries were trying to secure air transportation, they would get everyone in the world involved to bid down the price. Nothing was wrong with that, but as a a client, they beat vendors, which is routine for them. I finally bowed out, I don't want to be a dog trying to win a race for Tony Robbins. So he secured transportation to Burbank or Van Nuys on one of the deals I chose not to be involved in, and he arrived at that airport in a twin-engine Cessna (my friend flew it). A LA Times reporter was doing some kind of profile on Tony, so he walked from the twin Cessna, to a Gulfstream (jet), which was not his, he did not charter it or own it. He stood on the air stair door, told the LA Times reporter he had just arrived in that jet, and they took his picture. Talk about photo op. The tales of this are not unique, they are widely known and all the lawsuits against Robbins and his companies, are documented. Something is not as ethical as he has always come across as being. What about that Spanos money?
Thanks Don. Maybe the tide in our city will finally change with city council, so we are not continually held hostage by these $pecial interests groups that use most major news media to fear us that if we lose the Chargers, our city will fail (or fall into the beautiful Pacific). If private groups, rich cats, and the ticket-buyers want to fund the new stadium, that is fine, but don't burden the taxpayers with funding pro sports (and all the beneficiaries), and no tax add-ons for those that stay in hotels or want to enjoy the Gaslamp even if they could care less about a new stadium there (we went through this with Petco Park).— January 17, 2015 10:20 p.m.
What about that Spanos money?
Thanks for your boldness to report, Don. We should just hand the Spanos Mafia the keys to the city, since it seems this cabal already controls our politicos, and is overly influenced by those that benefit only by having money show up in their pockets.— January 17, 2015 9:39 p.m.
