Guns: Meese warns Obama could be impeached
The biggest problem is that far too many politicians and judges can no longer be trusted to protect American citizens because they are corrupt and/or incompetent. This condition makes it far too easy for fear and hate propaganda to dominate discussions because our political and intellectual leaders are no longer able to meet the social, political, economic and environmental challenges that are increasingly out of control. Even our educational and religious institutions have failed us. Unless we restore integrity and morality as paramount cultural values for our leaders, chaos shall be our only future unless the new social media can provide We The People with the power to fight back against corruption and incompetence in time to allow us to perpetuate Democracy.— January 16, 2013 1:51 p.m.

Based on all the discussions of this article so far, the biggest failure with our education today is the failure to produce leaders that are actually motivated to learn about, think about and practice integrity as paramount cultural value. However, our religious leaders don't really practice what they preach either, so far too few really believe strongly enough to practice the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount, and it is no wonder that the Golden Rule is the most marginalized moral value today. Meanwhile, daily news reports keep documenting the fact that we haven't evolved beyond talking apes. So the 2012 primary candidates used Greed, Fear and Hate 'R' Us as their predominant motto. Thus we are stuck in the age of corrupt republicans and incompetent democrats with no leadership in sight that is actually capable of improving long-term quality of life for We The People anymore because our educational institutions have totally failed to produce enough leaders with integrity and morality to make the right things happen for our newest and future generations.— January 15, 2013 12:14 p.m.

While they are at it, Gov. Brown must immediately investigate conflict of interests by UC regent Richard C. Blum who owns shares in for-profit educational institutions. Costs of UC tuition have skyrocketed while Blum has been a regent, making for-profit educational institutions much more competitive against UC at the same time that UC regents and administrators are increasingly failing to meet the needs of eligible California students. Failures in business administration by the UC Ivory Tower aristocracy to maintain availability of affordable education for qualified California students are out of control. Most recently UC wasted $321MILLION repairing Berkeley's football field that is located on an earthquake fault, money that is desperately needed for education of California students. This era of conflicts of interest, Ivory Tower aristocracy and incompetence that are destroying UC must be ended in 2013.— January 14, 2013 1:45 p.m.
UCAN board meeting gets testy
"2016: Obama's America" Ad run by Manchester in U-T with "HATE HIM" in BOLD REPUBLICAN RED TYPE http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/2016-obamas-america/— January 10, 2013 3:41 p.m.
UCAN board meeting gets testy
Thanks as usual for your feedback Visduh, 50%+- agreement is about as good as it gets on these blogs. Obviously I wasn't as precise as I should have been in expressing my thoughts and making distinctions for people like you who really think about these things other people try to say. As Confucius said, approximately: Learning without thinking is useless, Thinking without learning is dangerous, and I try to prevent falling into both traps but not always successfully. One thing I went off on a tangent with was that this is a whole new age when social networking is starting to show its new power to restore We The People democracy in order to promote quality of life for newest and future generations that previous generations like mine allowed to be trashed. The newest generations are fighting back with the newest communications technologies and they are the voters that made the Obama and Filner elections possible to begin to make the right things happen for their own future. Filner is venturing through a minefield that previous mayors and oligarchs like Manchester laid all over San Diego county, so he can be expected to step on some of the mines just getting up to speed. Sweetwater, etc. etc. ad infinitum is just one of the mines. The best example of the new Manchester cult of fear and hate is their full page "HATE OBAMA" aditorial for the racist "2016: Obama's America" movie they promoted during the 2012 campaign. It's a scenario straight out of Orwell's "1984" classic. Economic, political and socially destructive publishers like Manchester and his idol Murdoch are hopefully the last dinosaurs we shall have to deal with before the social network demos take American democracy back from the same type of oligarchs that Solon had to deal during the age of the first democracies.— January 10, 2013 1:03 p.m.
UCAN board meeting gets testy
Too bad greed appears to have destroyed the integrity of UCAN as well as far too many other San Diego political, economic and social establishments. Hopefully, now that we have elected a mayor who represents the people instead of being controlled by special interests like the last three mayoral disasters, Filner will save San Diego from decades of destructive corruption before we run out of opportunities and global warming dominates our future more than corruption ever did. I still think The Reader is the only San Diego print media that has the integrity to make the right things happen now that Manchester has turned the U-T into a fear and hate culture like he did during the 2012 elections. The future is now in the hands of the readers of The Reader who re-elected Obama, elected Filner and passed Prop. 30.— January 10, 2013 6:52 a.m.

Keep the good news coming Don, hopefully the good will overwhelm the bad before it becomes an impossible dream. After the 2012 elections I'm placing all my bets on the younger generations and their use of social media to continue their fight for their own future, an advantage that humans have never had since Ancient Athens to end the era of oligarch tyranny over the human race. Our local tyrant Manchester keeps reminding me of scenarios in Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four" and he is the greatest threat to the future of San Diego today.— December 21, 2012 1:27 p.m.
San Diego wins one
P.S. It's time to continue the social networking revolution that reelected Obama and overthrow the power of money establishment elite that controlled far too many minds that voted for Romney due to fear and hate propaganda like Manchester published such as the racist "2016: Obama's America" full page aditorials. Brown should use the new age of social networking like Obama did, to end the era of oligarchs that have destroyed so many democracies before ours.— December 20, 2012 3:47 p.m.

Great fight Don, thank you. Now it's time for Brown to do roto-rooting at the CPUC. And while Brown is at it, now that we gave him super majorities in the legislature, it's also time to roto-rooter UC regents and administrators to end their Ivory Tower establishment that rapes California families with students eligible to attend UC but can no longer afford it due to Ivory Tower incompetence and corruption that does things like wasting $321MILLION on a football field at Berkeley this year when they don't even have a team that is better than second from the bottom of the PAC 12, and hiring out of state administrators for insanely high salaries and benefits because UC can't produce California graduates that are eligible for the job. The era of tenure has destroyed college education opportunities for increasingly out of control numbers of California students who worked their butts off in high school to quality for. With his new super majorities It's time for Brown to overhaul California government in 2013 to meet the needs of voters, ratepayers, families and students once again as their highest priority, time to restore California to its preeminent position as the greatest state in the union once again.— December 20, 2012 3:03 p.m.
Outrageous scam by CPUC
As you asked on July 27, 2011 "--- question of whether the utilities commission, the watchdog groups, and the utilities have cozy relationship that rapes ratepayers." This investigative report proves the answer is increasingly becoming an absolute YES! Actually, with former SCE President Michael R. Peevey as President of the California Public Utilities Commission, what else can we expect? It's time for Gov. Brown to roto-rooter the corruption out of the CPUC sewer or they shall most certainly push California ratepayers off of California's own cliffs.— December 20, 2012 10:10 a.m.
