Response to post # 27: Note that in the BW article a poll of the 18-24 year olds was made and the largest percentage, 40% claimed to be Independent (vs. 35% for brain-dead democrats and 25% for corrupt republicans), which proves the 18-24 year olds are smarter than most previous generations. It’s way past due time, decades past due indeed for Gen Y (ages 18 to 29) voters and the preceding Gen X voters to tell the republican and democratic party leaders in Washington, Sacramento and San Diego to go to hell for screwing up the American way of life, and vote them out of control of their future. That means voting both the corrupt (like Sanders and Dumanis in San Diego) and the brain-dead (like Davis, Feinstein, Boxer in Washington) out of office. Gen Y is a major part of the The Reader constituency, so it is up to The Reader to support them in fighting back as aggressively as possible during the 2008 elections.— January 13, 2008 2:03 p.m.

Response to post #25: Don, the most important thing we must all do now is for all of us to be outraged and take actions against all U-T Establishment “Ballot Recommendations” politicians in 2008 or they shall most certainly destroy what is left of our quality of life in San Diego even worse than the Firestorms did in 2003 and again in 2007 with no end in sight. Business Week has an article this week: "Youthquake: They're called the Millennials—and they're fed up. Why? Try angst about jobs, health care, and debt. Response to post #20: A brief History lesson Don, that we keep forgetting at increasing peril, the Copley Press won the Trifecta of Hate in the 20th century when they: Marginalized Ike’s grave warning about the M-I-G-A complex in his 1961 Farewell Address, thus they betrayed America, they betrayed Humanity by excluding Holocaust victims from living in La Jolla for decades after the Holocaust, and the Copley legacy still lives on today through the corrupt U-T Editorial Board and their “Ballot Recommendations puppeticians Golding, Murphy and Sanders who produced the “U-T Era of Decay and Neglect” which is now redefined under the latest U-T Puppet-Mayor as the “U-T Age of Chaos and Firestorms.” Interesting that We have gone from “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” to “Poverty, Pollute and Consume” because we failed to heed the lessons of history over, and over and over again. But the never-ending tragedy today is that Ike is still marginalized by both the corrupt republicans and the brain-dead democrats in Washington DC so we have fighter jets falling out of the skies, no replacement for fossil fuel burning power plants when we need it the most, Firestorms, disappearing clean water sources, chaos, etc., etc., etc. Response to post #19: Don, be very careful what you wish for with your hiring "outside experts" recommendation, as Donna, Mike and you have exposed many times it depends first on who hires the "experts," then on what the powers that be actually do with the expert reports beyond filing and forgetting. Thanks for at giving us a heads up on "Frye Lights" Don, it is the only other San Diego publication besides "The Reader" that still has the Spirit of 1776. As Donna said about the reality of the U-T "Strong" Mayor system in her January 2008 issue, "It’s a bad system that assures a lack of independence and directly conflicts with common sense and best practices. How can you honestly audit the person who not only appoints you but also has the power to fire you?" Wall Street apparently agrees with Donna's exposure of "Strong" U-T Mayor just being more of the same good old boy establishment corruption as you yourself have documented. Thank you for all that you, Donna and Mike have tried to do to restore democracy to San Diego government. The bottom line is that the We The People concept died about the time that President Eisenhower gave his 1961 Farewell Address warning us about the Military-Industrial-Government-Academic complex that was undermining American Democracy at that time. Now even our F-15 fighter jets are falling out of the sky due to the M-I-G-A complex corruption that has betrayed America even while Heroes and Patriots continue to fight and die for America in spite of the failure of We The People today to care enough to save ourselves.— January 12, 2008 2:47 a.m.

You're right again Don, what we really need is to restore the Spirit of We The People that existed during the period when our Founding Fathers and We The People fought for and built the United States of America. Actually, the last time We did have the Spirit of 1776 was WWII, and some of those heroes and patriots still live on. God Bless them, we owe them for every opportunity they fought and died for and passed on to us, and for every good thing we haven't destroyed yet today. Response to post #41: Don, violence cannot be considered as a response even though U-T Establishment theft of taxpayer money caused excessive firestorm deaths, risk to fire and police personnel and property losses. Interesting how the U-T Editorial Board style looks like a cross between Dur Sturmer during WWII and the British Tory Royal Gazette during the Revolutionary War. Are you sure the excellent Reader journalists can't come up with a new version of Declaration of Independence for San Diegans to rally behind to save ourselves now that the U-T Firestorms have proven that our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are threatened once again? San Diego desperately needs some modern version of the press to carry on the tradition of the American Fourth Estate during the Revolutionary War. But the reality is that the U-T Establishment "Strong" Mayor system was perpetrated to allow U-T Puppet-Mayors to rule imperiously over the City Council. However, as you keep documenting in your investigative reports it has been interesting that many have left because the U-T "Liar" Mayor Sanders turned out to be all too tyrannical for those with integrity to put up with.
