Who made these errors?
Don, the truly most inconvenient truth of all is that our energy, water, global warming and inequality problems could have been solved with fusion energy, but incompetence and corruption have made that the most impossible dream of all. Edward Teller told members of my graduating class in the 60s that we would achieve nuclear power production by the end of the 20th century, but Berkeley and LLNL have since become the greatest scientific failures in history. One of the greatest examples of the culture of failure is Steven Chu who went to WashDC to become Secretary of Energy in 2009, after having been head of LBNL, a Berkeley professor and Nobel Laureate, and has since resigned after having accomplished nothing. So we are left to thrash around with hideous consequences of our political and intellectual failures to deal with the challenges of change that are overwhelming California, and the rest of humanity.— August 2, 2014 4:59 a.m.
Who made these errors?
Don, as we know CPUC and SCE are still covering up documents that will incriminate them like PG&E/CPUC covered up documents that are now proving they ignored gas pipeline threats to public safety that killed people in San Bruno. Documents can be expected to prove SCE/CPUC risked lives because of executive acts of SONGS criminal negligence that occurred while it was still operating, we have already heard they ignored the warnings and recommendations of nuclear engineers and maximized their profits instead until they finally had no choice but to shut it down even though they should have spent money to make repairs earlier on. Meanwhile, Brown and the legislature continue to look the other way instead of protecting public safety as their highest priority.— August 1, 2014 12:22 p.m.
Who made these errors?
Don, this has gone way beyond who did it, what they did and who pays for it, it's time to put executives at the CPUC and utilities, and maybe even Brown, in jail for killing and threatening the lives of people throughout California.— August 1, 2014 3:49 a.m.
City of San Diego Auditor Luna gets snubbed
Don, do you know of any new escape route we haven't considered this time?— July 31, 2014 2:36 p.m.
Peeved, to be sure
All we keep proving is that American Democracy and human rights are dying, our environment is in extremis, most people don't even bother to vote anymore and not enough people seem to care enough to join together to fight back even with the future clearly in rapidly increasingly grave jeopardy. Thank you for your dedication anyway Don.— July 31, 2014 2:28 p.m.
Peeved, to be sure
Don, it's time to send Peevey and utility execs to jail. Even Brown should go to jail for allowing them to get away with murder and threatening public safety throughout California! California has just taken First Place as the most corrupt state in the 21st century.— July 31, 2014 2:38 a.m.
City of San Diego Auditor Luna gets snubbed
OK Don, I'll yield to your expertise and vote for your recommendation. However, America has a most desperate need for an army of intellectuals to inform and motivate Americans to fight for our democracy before we lose it completely. History proves this imperative over and over again, our two party system is a total failure at protecting our democracy today. The legacy our generation is passing on today sucks, we thrived on the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation, and then we betrayed our newest generations by destroying human rights and the environment.— July 30, 2014 2:15 p.m.
City of San Diego Auditor Luna gets snubbed
Don, I am now beginning to wonder when the City Hall puppets are going to change the name of San Diego to Manchestertown to confirm what we all know now. Can't wait for Steve's next volume, but the speed of corruption is so fast here that The Reader will have to assign him a daily update column, but then you already do that. However, since "Corruption R Us" is now the motto of American politics in San Diego, Sacramento and WashDC, we need more professors to join with Steve to try to keep ahead of the sewer tidal waves of destruction our politicians are creating, at least until they change the name of American Democracy to American Oligarchy to confirm what we also know already.— July 30, 2014 12:37 p.m.
Yes, we will defend Jan Goldsmith
Don, New York City and Chicago were two of the most corrupt cities in the 20th century. As you have been documenting, "Pope" Doug Manchester has dedicated his entire U-T empire to making San Diego the most corrupt American city in the 21st century. The Pope's Puppet-Mayor and Puppet-City Attorney have been ordered to make that their Number One Priority.— July 30, 2014 11:26 a.m.
Yes, we will defend Jan Goldsmith
Veterans are helpless, children are starving, but the City Council continues to bankrupt San Diego by feeding the army of corrupt lawyers/judges like the City Attorney, flushing millions of dollars down the legal/judicial sewer. It's time for Goldsmith to follow Filner out of City Hall, we must eradicate his culture of corruption today.— July 30, 2014 4:05 a.m.
