Double Cheapburger
JohnnyJ - Yes we are designed to eat meat. However we are not designed to eat meat that has been force fed corn and other junk it would not normally eat, tortured, and pumped full of antibiotics and hormones. And why is someone a 'fool' if they choose to eat vegetarian? WTF do you care what a person chooses to eat, it's not like they're forcing you to be vegetarian.— April 30, 2010 2:22 p.m.
Crab Bag
I completely disagree with this review! I went for my b-day (8/18) and thought the food was very good. I got the Icelandic Char and it was not missing the beans nor the Aioli, and did not seem overcooked to me. It also was not overly starch laden, the amount of rice and beans compared to the fish was quite modest. My one and only minor complaint about this dish would be that I could not detect the habenero in the aioli. We also ordered the warm goat cheese appetizer which was divine! The only thing I agree with is the desserts ARE way over-sized. We ordered the chocolate 'bag' and it was delicious but impossible for the three of us to finish. Maybe you just hit on a bad day or maybe the chef that cooked our meal has left based on that craigslist posting. I don't know, but I thought they were better than King's Fish House and certainly leagues above Zocolo where my meal was disgusting! I also find your comment about 'looking like folks who value quantity over quality' HIGHLY offensive!— September 4, 2009 12:41 p.m.

I was very disappointed in Zocalo. I went there for my birthday on Aug. 18th. I ordered one of the specials which was Halibut with a blood orange sauce, plantain/cranberry mojo, and saffron potatoes. The Halibut was good as was the sauce, but the mojo was strange and too tart, and the potatoes were hard! How hard is it to cook potatoes?!? They were so hard I couldn't cut it with my fork and they were very bland on top of that. Couldn't taste saffron at all and even seemed lacking in salt and pepper. My Mom's meal of the Mahi Mahi was good but nothing special. My sister's meal of the lamb was the best of the bunch. The lamb was overcooked, but she still enjoyed it and the Gratin it came with was awesome. Definately the best thing of the evening. Desserts were so-so as well. I was brought creme brulee as the b-day dessert which was good, but the Tres Leches cake my sister ordered was boring and seemed like regular white cake. Service was also somewhat lacking. I was only asked once how everything was and that was before I had tried my potatoes. Overall the food is way too inconsistent to warrant another visit.— August 26, 2008 2:20 p.m.
