I’m a writer and frequent international volunteer. I’ve spent the past 20 years reflecting on the landscape of communication, cultures, and creatures. My stories about travel and conservation have appeared in the San Diego Reader, Yahoo! News Philippines, InTravel magazine, eMagazine, Environmental Magazine, The Compass, San Francisco Chronicle, Tango Diva, and have garnered Gold, Bronze and Honorable Mentions in Traveler's Tales SOLAS Travel Writing Awards in 2008, 2009 and 2013. Most recently, I’ve focused my energy to helping advance the campaigns of national and international NGOs in their efforts to increase sustainable agriculture while preserving and protecting threatened habitat for the precious, critically endangered lives that depend on it. My stories are at michellemcalister.com.
