This is from my Italian mother-in-law.
Ingredients
- 0.25 cups olive oil
- 5.0 large cloves of garlic, crushed /sliced
- 0.25 cups chopped fresh parsley (or 1tsp. dry)
- 0.25 cups chopped fresh basil (or 1 tsp. dry)
- 0.5 tsps dry oregano
- 1.0 tsp sugar
- 28.0 ozs crushed tomatoes (1 large can)
Instructions
Saute garlic in olive oil until slightly browned. Remove from oil and discard. In oil, wilt fresh basil and parsley. Add tomatoes and 3/4 cup of watter. Stir well. Add sugar and oregano. Stir well. Bring to a boil, then turn heat down and simmer. Cook 1 to 1 1/2 hours stirring every 10 to 15 minutes. If using dry parsely and basil, add with the oregano and sugar.
