The Whaling Bar

Bar and restaurant at La Jolla's La Valencia Hotel, revived to build on the cachet of its mid-century history as a favored drinking hole of local celebrities including DR. Seuss, Gregory Peck, and Raymond Chandler. Creative cocktails and cuisine, including a truffle-infused old fashioned, Caesar salad with cream-filled croutons, and cake and ice cream dressed up to look like a cheeseburger. The Whaling Bar was replaced by La Sala until being brought back by the La Valencia Hotel in 2024.
